Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a WSTF Senior Hydrogeologist / Conceptual Site Model Lead (3750).

This is a short-term remote position with possible travel to the site.

Navarro Research & Engineering is an award-winning federal contractor dedicated to partnering with clients to advance clean energy and deliver effective solutions for complex challenges in the nuclear and environmental fields. Joining Navarro means being a part of an exceptional team committed to quality and safety while also looking for innovative strategies to create value for the client’s success. Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.

The candidate will be part of a holistic assessment of the NASA White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) groundwater monitoring program. Responsibilities include identifying redundancies or gaps in monitoring well coverage, highlighting areas with elevated contaminant concentrations requiring more aggressive remedial action, and determining sampling schedules that balance data needs with budget constraints in support of the WSTF environmental restoration program. Activities include defining and documenting the existing monitoring program, evaluating historical data, determining appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative evaluation approaches, applying industry-standard optimization tools, developing recommendations for optimal monitoring well distribution and sampling frequency, and preparing final assessment deliverables.

Primary Role:

Serves as the technical authority for hydrogeology, fractured bedrock behavior, and development of the Conceptual Site Model (CSM).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead evaluation of site‑specific geology, geochemistry, and groundwater flow.
  • Develop and refine the CSM incorporating historical and current data.
  • Apply professional judgment to interpret complex fractured‑bedrock systems.
  • Identify monitoring network redundancies and data gaps.
  • Guide selection of qualitative vs. quantitative evaluation approaches.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Hydrogeology or Geological Engineering.
  • Extensive fractured‑bedrock groundwater monitoring experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing regulator‑accepted CSMs at RCRA sites.

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

Navarro is an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, religion, color, national origin, age, disability, veteran’s status, or any classification protected by applicable state or local law.
