This remote opportunity is designed for an experienced virtualization professional who will help architect, deploy, and operate enterprise VMware environments.
The role focuses on building reliable, scalable infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud platforms.
You will work with advanced VMware technologies including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria, and Tanzu to support modern workloads.
The position combines engineering expertise, automation, troubleshooting, and strategic infrastructure improvements.
You will contribute to large-scale platform operations while improving performance, security, and operational efficiency.

Accountabilities:The VMware Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing virtualization platforms while ensuring operational excellence across enterprise environments. The role requires strong technical ownership, automation capabilities, and collaboration with infrastructure and cloud teams.
- Design, deploy, and operate VMware vSphere, vSAN, and NSX environments across data centers and hybrid cloud deployments.
- Build and maintain Tanzu Kubernetes Grid environments supporting containerized applications.
- Implement VMware Aria Automation solutions for self-service provisioning, lifecycle management, and policy enforcement.
- Manage software-defined networking solutions, including NSX configurations, micro-segmentation, and load balancing.
- Administer vSAN clusters, storage policies, and performance optimization for diverse workloads.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity solutions using replication technologies and Site Recovery Manager.
- Create infrastructure automation workflows using PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, and VMware automation tools.
- Lead capacity planning activities, including workload optimization, resource allocation, and infrastructure forecasting.
- Support VMware Cloud Foundation deployments and hybrid cloud integrations where applicable.
- Implement monitoring and observability practices to track performance, compliance, and infrastructure health.
- Plan and execute VMware upgrades, lifecycle management activities, and security patching with minimal operational disruption.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across virtualization, networking, and storage environments.
- Stay informed on VMware platform evolution and recommend practical adoption strategies.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings deep VMware engineering expertise, strong automation skills, and experience managing enterprise-scale infrastructure environments. This professional should be comfortable working independently, collaborating across technical teams, and solving complex platform challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
- Proven experience managing vSAN environments and storage policies.
- Hands-on experience with NSX-T or NSX-V networking technologies.
- Strong PowerCLI scripting capabilities and experience with infrastructure automation tools.
- Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms.
- Experience implementing disaster recovery solutions and Site Recovery Manager.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, network, and storage layers.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration abilities.
- VMware certifications such as VCP or VCAP are preferred.
- Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, GCVE, or VMware Cloud Foundation is a plus.
- Familiarity with Aria Operations, vRealize Operations, or virtualization migration initiatives is beneficial.
