Virtual Mental Health Counselor – 2025–2026 School Year

1099 Contracted Role | Virtual School-Based | Alabama

You became a therapist to make an impact—let’s make that impact where it matters most.

At Thrive Therapies, we partner with K–12 schools across under-resourced communities because we believe every student deserves access to expert, compassionate mental health care. Our team of clinicians brings trauma-informed, evidence-based support directly into schools, virtually and in real time, helping students build resilience, regulate emotions, and re-engage with learning.

Why Therapists Love Working with Thrive

- Autonomy with support: Manage your virtual caseload, referrals, and session flow—with access to clinical consultation and peer support.

- Predictable school-day hours: Align work with bell schedules; minimal evenings or weekends.

- Impact at scale: Reach students across Alabama schools who might not otherwise have access to a mental health professional.

- Collaborative partnerships: Coordinate with on-site counselors, educators, and administrators to deliver whole-child care.

- Trauma-informed community: Join a network that prioritizes dignity, cultural responsiveness, and evidence-based care.

- Shared tools & resources: Use our virtual therapy protocols, templates, and documentation supports so you never start from scratch.

Requirements

- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy.

- Active Alabama license or eligibility for one (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LMFT).

- Successful background check prior to start.

- School-based or telehealth counseling experience preferred.

- Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care and educational equity.

- Bonus: Bilingual or multilingual fluency (e.g., Spanish, Somali, Arabic).

What You’ll Do

- Provide individual and group teletherapy sessions using trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches.

- Coordinate care virtually with teachers, counselors, and families while protecting student confidentiality.

- Document sessions and track outcomes (attendance, engagement, and goal progress).

- Participate in brief virtual staff consults or wellness debriefs as needed.

- Serve as the virtual mental health lead for assigned schools, helping build sustainable systems for care access.

Compensation

1099 (Contracted): Starting at $32/hour, commensurate with experience.
