Position Description:

FlexGen is currently searching for a VP of Supply Chain Solutions to lead and direct all aspects of supply chain including energy storage battery sourcing, vendor relationship management, and multi-party contract negotiation, aiming to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, ensure timely delivery, and build strategy OEM partnership. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with FlexGen’s business objectives, as well as defining and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) for the supply chain.


Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve FlexGen’s supply chain strategy to emphasize long-term partnerships, risk sharing, and mutual value with key OEMs
  • Conduct industry benchmarking, vendor performance management and supplier risk assessments
  • Optimize supply chain processes to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Develop and implement operational systems to monitor and control critical supply chain processes
  • Ensure proper organizational growth through effective recruiting and training
  • Develop and manage a strong vendor base that is aligned with the company's supply chain strategy
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers  and ensure compliance with quality and delivery requirements
  • Manage all financial aspects of supply chain operations, including budgeting, cost control, and capital project management, while keeping aligned to FlexGen’s budget
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of the supply chain
  • Travel to China, Southeast Asia, Europe and domestically, and develop global strategic sourcing initiatives

Battery Storage–Specific Supply Chain Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic sourcing and qualification of key battery energy storage system (BESS) components, including battery DC blocks, inverters, transformers and other BESS equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to align supply chain strategies with evolving BESS requirements and product development timelines
  • Build and manage long-term strategic partnerships with Tier 1 manufacturers of batteries and inverters (e.g., CATL, Samsung, Sungrow, etc.) and other global BESS OEMs, with a focus on pricing stability, supply continuity, and technology roadmap alignment
  • Negotiate and oversee supply agreements, pricing terms, and performance guarantees with global suppliers, in China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. 
  • Monitor and mitigate risks related to tariffs, import/export regulations, and trade compliance issues specific to China-U.S. relations
  • Implement robust quality assurance programs, including factory audits, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and on-site inspections at Chinese manufacturing facilities
  • Develop strategies, alternative sourcing plans, and multi-supply arrangements to mitigate geopolitical or market disruption risks
  • Stay informed on regulatory, ESG, and traceability standards related to critical materials and battery supply chains (e.g., cobalt, lithium, nickel)

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, engineering, business administration, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, with 5+ years in the battery storage industry and direct experience managing global BESS sourcing
  • Extensive experience working with global manufacturers in China or South Korea, including contract negotiation, and international supplier quality management
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate U.S.-China trade dynamics, including tariffs, documentation, Incoterms, and customs compliance
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams, build relationships, and motivate employees
  • Strong ability to develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with FlexGen’s goals
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, while maintaining strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and understand financial implications of supply chain decisions, while identifying and mitigating risks
