We are seeking a part-time Underwriter to join our small but mighty Underwriting team. Notable’s unsecured line of credit is more lightweight, simpler and faster to approve than traditional personal or home loans, making it the obvious choice to fund material pre-sale staging and improvement projects. We’re underwriting our highest daily volume of loans to date, and so we opened this role to further support our borrowers!
As our part-time Underwriter, you’d be trusted to underwrite multiple new loans per day while offering a stellar customer experience. The target hours for this role are:
Monday through Friday 6-9pm EST (3-6pm PST)
Saturdays and Sundays 12-8pm EST (9-5pm PST)
This is a part-time, remote role, and reports directly to the Originations Manager. This is a great opportunity to pick up extra work outside of a traditional 9 to 5! You’d be eligible to work up to a maximum 25 hours per week within the above schedule and choose which two days off you’d like weekly, but let us know your ideal amount of hours and which days you’d like to work.
Analyze new loan requests by following all internal underwriting policies and procedures, ensuring all loan transactions are accurate, complete and compliant.
Clear and document red flags; ensure due diligence is performed
Contacting applicants and agents for loan conditions
Accurately and timely analyze loan documentation submitted for loan conditions.
Credit reports, collateral evaluations, and/or other supporting documentation provided by applicants
Recommend/Approve applications within credit decisioning authority
Communicates with Notable team members and customers as necessary to achieve a mutually agreeable transaction, and underwrites the loan using sound underwriting judgment and independent judgment decision-making.
Resolve any issues preventing our customers from having an outstanding experience with Notable. This includes communication via phone, email, and text.
Own the tracking and resolution of problems, working closely with other teams to ensure all issues or obstacles are appropriately logged, prioritized, and solved
Have a deep understanding of the ins and outs of each of our unique lending products, for example, each product’s payment options and eligibility requirements
Respect borrower privacy regarding personal information, loan details, application details
Participate in annual trainings for AML/Anti-Fraud Program , FDCPA Compliance, Information Security, and Customer Privacy
Recommend ideas and solutions for process improvements and risk prevention based on lending trends and observations.
Consistently meet performance standards.
Contribute to the achievement of Notable’s growth, profitability, and asset quality objectives.
At 30 days, you will be familiar with Notable’s software, actively learning policies and job aids, start handling processing tasks
At 90 days, you will continue to drill down on policies and job aids, take on more independent work, and be running first reviews for approvals
At 6 months, you will start independently approving happy path applications and continuing to build on their foundation
At 1 year, you will work independently, approving most loan requests yourself!
2+ years experience with consumer loan underwriting and/or credit processing; it’s a bonus if you have extensive knowledge underwriting home equity loans and lines of credit!
Track record of team collaboration: you can work with professionals of various skillsets to provide an outstanding customer experience
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills: for instance you can recognize potential red flags, inconsistencies within files documentation and spot other problem areas, then initiate proper mitigation action
Strong communication skills: you can clearly guide our customers and internal partners
Emotional intelligence: you have a high level of empathy and the ability to build trust and rapport with customers and stakeholders
A positive mindset: that includes flexibility, honesty, and a hands-on approach to solving problems
Excellent time management skills: this includes effective prioritization skills and the aptitude to work under time and deadline pressure, no matter how large the workload
Excellent computer skills: this will help you onboard quickly and navigate our systems effectively
The compensation for this position ranges from $25 - $35 per hour. Compensation may vary outside the listed range, based on a number of factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, performance, skills, and experience. If hired, employees will be in an ‘at-will position’ and Notable reserves the right to modify hours and compensation (as well as any other discretionary payment or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
