The expected salary range for this position is $67,900.00 - $79,777.80. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. Overview 

We are seeking a trip planner to join our Field Experiences team! You will manage ministry exposure and outcomes for each assigned trip in various in-person and/or virtual forms. You will implement established strategies to highlight Compassion's ministry, deepen sponsor, donor, and ministry partner engagement, increase new sponsorship acquisition, invite additional giving, and grow retention rates. At this career level, you will generally work independently on assigned trips and assist with larger and/or more complex trips as needed.

What will you do?  

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  

  • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur. 

  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors

  • Plan multiple trips per fiscal year to educate supporters and ministry partners while providing first-hand experience and exposure to Compassion's core ministry programs to ultimately increase giving and sponsorship of children. Trips may vary in type and could include international or domestic vision trips, individual custom visits, virtual connections, short-term mission trips, church engagement trips, or sponsor trips. Work with colleagues to provide creative and engaging trip experiences and follow new processes to promote greater efficiency. 

  • Communicate with Compassion staff in other locations/international offices to implement  trips based on marketing and/or child program objectives. Work directly with Marketing groups, Supporters and Ministry partners to manage expectations and trip outcomes.

  • Develop and manage budgets for each trip in accordance with established department budgets, monitoring expenses, and reporting actual trip variance as needed. Exercise sound judgment on trip financial decisions. 

  • Serve to protect both Compassion's interests as well as the life and property of participants as best as possible. Monitor and mitigate as best as possible any foreseeable risk for all trip participants traveling to the region. 

  • Coordinate all group activities while on the trip. This may include, but is not limited to, team building, education & debriefing, safety & security, problem resolution, attention to medical needs, and emergency/crisis response. 

  • Provide insight and guidance regarding Compassion programs and trip outcomes. Support revenue-generating goals as established in trip objectives. Support the work of Marketing and Child Program groups to ensure the quality and effectiveness of field exposure trips. Seek to ensure that needs are being addressed and attendees receive an excellent trip experience. 

  • Coordinate the planning and administrative components of assigned trips and visits to provide a seamless end-to-end experience for travelers and sponsors engaged in any and all forms of trips, virtual and in-person. This responsibility includes coordinating trip registration, visas and necessary paperwork, payment processes, trip bookings, and post-trip evaluation and wrap-up. 

What do you bring? 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

  • Three years relevant experience working in this or a related field.

  • Highly organized with strong time management and administrative skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; willing to engage with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Proactive approach and independent work style; ability to solve problems and execute tasks with minimal oversight.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Cvent, and the Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred.

  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.

  • Ability to travel for 4-6 international trips/team meetings per year.
