JOB TITLE: Technical Service Manager - Automotive
Job Summary: The Technical Service Manager will be responsible for providing in-depth technical direction and assistance to customers regarding the use of Axalta products and services.
Work Location: This role requires a 100% onsite presence in Spring Hill, TN.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer-Specific Strategy and Execution:
- Support and develop input on specific target goals for regional customer accounts, specifically selling expenses, inventory, customer demand forecast and managing accounts receivable.
- Serve in a technical advisory capacity to customers including during trials and launches. Provide technical direction and assistance to customers with the use of product lines; serve as an expert in a single technology or apply a working knowledge of multiple technologies.Â
- Monitor and enter all Mix Room data into appropriate databases daily and for all new totes prior to loading, documenting all adjustments.
- Manage relationships with both manufacturing and engineering at customer site.
- Troubleshoot & resolve painting issues and problems.
- Participate in plant lead problem solving and continuous improvement activities, support defect analysis team.
- Perform grind checks, crater testing, tote color adjustment and track calibrations on viscometers.
- Coordinate and provide measurements for E-Coat material properties for process and quality control.
- Communicate with appropriate Axalta departments for daily updates on paint consumption, invoices, inventory, and paint ordering.Â
- Maintain build data, pricing and take rate data in Campfire.
- Define VMI requirements and seek VMI improvement opportunities to implement.
- Prepare and maintain monthly plant quality reports for customers as well as lead customer quality investigations.
- Prepare and place customer product orders; successfully manage onsite inventory and resolve immediate customer supply issues.
- Support monthly validation and quality confirmation panels and write Adhesion Audit Report as per the Durability Manual.
- Support and manage PDCA meetings and processes.
- Support NEW vehicle/new technology as well as customer projects (LWRs, FWRs, EPMs).

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related applied sciences curriculum preferred.
- Minimum of five (5+) years Technical Service or related experience in the coatings industry.
- Expertise with coatings application equipment highly preferred.
- Keen understanding of technical (lab, research, etc.) principles and practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while handling multiple projects at any given time.
- PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applications preferred.
