Chrysalis AE — Building the Future of Adaptive AI Systems

Chrysalis is a privacy-first identity infrastructure company for the age of AI. We’re building a breakthrough AI platform and are looking for specialists in large-scale memory and graph systems to join at the ground floor. This is not a typical app role — it’s core systems work at the intersection of graph and memory systems. 

You'll be our first Technical Lead, working directly with founders to build our core platform. You'll own the architecture and ensure our system can scale from the current stage to millions of users.

This is a ground-floor opportunity with significant equity, technical autonomy, and the chance to shape a novel approach to identity infrastructure.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Own architecture decisions and technical roadmap
  • Design systems that scale and evolve
  • Establish code quality and engineering standards
  • Document technical decisions
  • Guide implementation of complex features
  • Build foundational infrastructure
  • Implement critical features
  • Design database schemas and APIs
  • Create testing and deployment frameworks
  • Debug and optimize systems

Qualifications

Must Have

  • 7+ years backend development with 2+ years in lead/architect role
  • Deep PostgreSQL expertise: Complex queries, performance optimization, schema design
  • Event-driven or CQRS experience: Message-based architectures, event sourcing patterns
  • API design: RESTful services, versioning, multi-tenant systems
  • Distributed team leadership: Managing remote engineers across time zones
  • System design: Architecting scalable platforms from first principles
  • Strong English communication: Written and verbal for async collaboration

Strong Plus

  • Experience with vector databases or search
  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture
  • LLM/AI integration experience
  • Healthcare or privacy-regulated industries (HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Startup experience (early-stage preferred)
  • Open source contributions
  • Experience working with US-based companies

Technologies

  • Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Fastify
  • Database: PostgreSQL, modern ORMs
  • AI/ML: OpenAI, Anthropic, embeddings
  • Infrastructure: Cloud platforms, Docker
  • Tools: GitHub, Linear, Notion, Slack
