The Technical Editor IV plays a critical role in ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of technical documents for high-profile environmental projects. This part-time, remote position supports a diverse portfolio of government contracts, reviewing and refining reports on environmental investigations, restoration, and construction. The role requires strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and familiarity with government contract standards. The Technical Editor IV collaborates with project teams to maintain document quality, verify data and citations, and ensure compliance with style guides and client-specific requirements. The ideal candidate is self-directed, responsive, and able to manage multiple deliverables efficiently while contributing to a culture of excellence.


Accountabilities:
  • Conduct thorough editorial reviews of environmental and construction project deliverables.
  • Ensure clarity, conciseness, and consistency in writing across all documents.
  • Verify grammar, spelling, acronyms, abbreviations, citations, and references.
  • Confirm logical organization of deliverables, including tables of contents, appendices, and figures.
  • Check cross-references within reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Review responses to comments and ensure incorporation into revised deliverables.
  • Maintain communication with project managers, authors, and the editorial team regarding workflow and deliverable quality.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of writing/editing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and professional communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and apply internal style manuals, project-specific guidelines, and corporate review systems.
  • Must pass a pre-hire editorial test.
  • U.S. citizenship required for government contract work.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience as an editor in the environmental industry.
  • Previous experience supporting government contracts.
