About the role
We are looking for a Development Manager to lead a growing team of 10 software engineers working across three of Nerdio’s core products. This is a dual-track role: you will carry both people management responsibilities and meaningful individual contributor (IC) work within our Product Teams.
As a manager, you will own coaching, performance, and the day-to-day operational health of your direct reports. As an IC, you will write production code, contribute to architectural decisions, and stay close enough to the work to earn the technical trust of the engineers you lead.
The ideal candidate is a strong C# engineer who has made the transition to management and refuses to leave the keyboard behind. You thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and understand how to balance shipping great software with building a great team.
This role will overlap from 8AM to 1AM M-F working ours with the Eastern Time Zone (GMT-4)
What you'll do
People Leadership
- Lead and mentor a growing team of 10 engineers across three product groups, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Run effective 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations to help each engineer grow and thrive.
- Set and uphold high standards for code quality, engineering practices, and team health.
Individual Contributor (Hands-On Engineering)
- Contribute production-ready C# code as an embedded IC within one of the three product teams, shipping features and fixing bugs alongside the engineers you manage.
- Participate in architectural design and technical decision-making across the broader engineering organization.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to uphold quality standards and accelerate team learning.
- Provide technical guidance on system design, scalability, reliability, and security concerns.
- Stay current with emerging patterns in cloud-native and Microsoft platform technologies relevant to Nerdio’s products.
Qualifications

- Strong foundation in software architecture, system design, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engineers and retain top talent.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Track record of owning and delivering complex software projects from planning through production. Describe the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate

- Familiarity with TypeScript, React, or other modern front-end technologies.
- Background in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience scaling engineering teams through rapid headcount growth.
