This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Christianson CPAs & Consultants. We are currently looking for a Tax & Research Specialist in Iowa (USA) and Minnesota (USA).

This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on clients’ financial strategies by providing expert tax compliance and research support. The Tax & Research Specialist will oversee the preparation and review of complex returns, conduct in-depth tax research, and advise on optimizing tax liabilities. This position requires a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys mentoring staff. You will engage with clients across diverse industries, support business growth, and ensure your team stays up to date on evolving tax regulations.

Accountabilities

  • Review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead client engagements with a focus on Renewable Energy and Partnership tax.
  • Conduct electronic research on tax issues and prepare position memos for partner, client, or IRS review.
  • Develop strategies to optimize clients’ tax liabilities and credits.
  • Mentor and guide staff on technical, procedural, and professional matters.
  • Implement and monitor tax quality control policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present complex tax returns and provide briefings on new tax issues to staff and partners.
  • Actively contribute to business development by cultivating relationships with clients and prospects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or EA certification preferred or currently pursuing.
  • 4+ years of public accounting experience, preferably with exposure to Renewable Fuels.
  • Strong expertise in tax research, technical writing, and staying current with tax code changes.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, capable of guiding staff under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional client service and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
