You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations specific to the telecommunications industry. This role requires a deep understanding of <strong>telecom tax laws, USF contributions, e911 fees, and sales & use tax</strong> to support accurate reporting and tax strategy implementation.</p><p><strong>💡 What You’ll Do:</strong></p><ul><li>Work with tax vendors (Avalara) to prepare and file federal, state, and local telecom tax returns, including USF, e911, sales & use tax, excise tax, and others. </li><li>Conduct tax research and stay up to date on telecom tax regulations, ensuring compliance with changing laws.</li><li>Assist in tax audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities.</li><li>Reconcile tax accounts and ensure accurate tax reporting in financial statements.</li><li>Work closely with finance, accounting, and legal teams to develop efficient tax strategies.</li><li>Monitor and validate tax calculations for customer invoices, including ZIP code-based e911 fee assessments.</li><li>Support the implementation of tax automation tools and software.</li><li>Identify opportunities for tax savings and process improvements.</li><li>Complete month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations</li><li>Ad-hoc accounting/tax projects as needed</li></ul><p><strong>☑️ What Makes You The Perfect Fit:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></li><ul><li>5-7 years of experience in telecom tax compliance, reporting, and research</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field </li><li>Public accounting experience</li></ul></ul><ul><li><strong>Ideal Qualifications</strong></li><ul><li>Strong practical knowledge of the FCC, state, and local telecom tax regulations, including USF, e911, and sales & use tax.</li><li>Experience working with telecommunications tax engines and tax filing vendors (i.e. Avalara). </li><li>Strong understanding of US GAAP and FASB codification and pronouncements, including internal control framework development.</li><li>Proficiency in Excel. Working knowledge of NetSuite.</li><li>Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams.</li><li>Accounting experience at a big four accounting or national firm.</li><li>CPA - strongly preferred.
