Tax Advisory Specialist

This role provides the opportunity to serve as a key advisor on U.S. sales tax matters, working directly with clients to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable guidance. The Tax Advisory Specialist will manage nexus reviews, permit management, use tax, resale certificates, and client offboarding while ensuring a seamless client experience. You will collaborate closely with internal teams to maintain compliance, streamline workflows, and contribute to process improvements. The position is fully remote with flexible hours, providing autonomy while fostering collaboration across teams. Accountabilities:

Conduct annual and monthly sales tax nexus reviews, analyzing economic and presence factors to determine client obligations
Serve as primary contact for existing clients regarding nexus, use tax, resale certificates, and state questionnaires
Manage client offboarding and permit closure processes, ensuring smooth transitions and positive client experiences
Collaborate with internal teams including Client Tax Specialists, Onboarding, and Filing teams to maintain accurate and efficient client accounts
Complete project audits and peer reviews to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of client work
Identify and implement workflow enhancements, contributing to client success and operational efficiency

Requirements:

1–2 years of experience in project management, tax advisory, research, audit, or accounting
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience
Proficiency in spreadsheets, particularly Excel, with strong analytical and formula skills
Exceptional client communication skills, able to inspire and reassure clients during interactions
Ability to research and interpret complex information and proactively address challenges
Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance multiple client projects and shifting priorities
