This role sits at the intersection of advanced software engineering, aviation analytics, and mission-critical systems supporting national airspace operations. You will design and develop software solutions, algorithms, and analytical tools that directly contribute to aviation safety, efficiency, and modernization efforts. The position involves working on complex, data-driven challenges using advanced programming techniques and computational methods. You will collaborate with engineering and technical teams to transform raw operational data into actionable insights through dashboards, simulations, and visualization tools. Your work will directly support decision-making within safety-critical aviation systems and federal operational programs.
Accountabilities:- Develop, implement, and maintain software solutions, algorithms, and analytical tools supporting aviation safety and National Airspace System (NAS) operations.
- Apply advanced programming and computational methods to process, analyze, and interpret complex technical and operational datasets.
- Build dashboards, data visualizations, and reporting tools to support decision-making and FAA program analysis.
- Perform data extraction, text mining, and integration of multiple data sources to generate operational insights.
- Support simulation environments and technical test facilities to validate and deploy software solutions.
- Contribute to engineering and analytical teams by supporting technical planning, problem-solving, and system design efforts.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and presentations to clearly communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s with extensive experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Extensive professional experience (10–17+ years depending on education level) in programming, software development, or aviation-related technical roles.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, C++, or equivalent.
- Experience in software development, algorithm design, and data visualization techniques.
- Strong background in data analytics, text mining, and applied computational methods.
- Ability to work in complex, safety-critical, or highly regulated environments such as aviation or aerospace.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and technical communication skills.
- Preferred: experience with FAA programs, NAS operations, machine learning, AI/ML, or simulation environments.
