Primarily based in the mid-Atlantic region, our team members frequently deploy nationwide and occasionally overseas. With over 20 years in business, UT continues to grow while maintaining a strong culture of teamwork.</p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p>As part of the Engineering Department, the <strong>Systems Engineering Manager (Enterprise)</strong> is responsible for leading a team of Systems Engineers—ensuring high-quality design, implementation, and support of commercial security systems for our Enterprise clients. In this role, you will spend approximately <strong>70%</strong> of your time performing hands-on technical tasks (e.g., advanced engineering support, troubleshooting, network configuration, project oversight, pre-sales and design efforts, etc.) and <strong>30%</strong> of your time managing, coaching, and developing your team. You’ll also collaborate closely with internal departments (Business Development, Operations, Project Management) to deliver complex security solutions on schedule and within budget.</p><p>The Systems Engineering Manager (Enterprise) reports directly to the <strong>Director of Engineering</strong> and may require occasional travel to job sites to support commissioning, oversee critical project milestones, meet with key stakeholders for our customers and clients as well as perform site walks for surveys, etc.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ol><li><strong>Hands-On Technical Leadership (70%)</strong></li><ul><li><strong>Solution Design & Implementation</strong>: Work alongside Senior Systems Engineers to design, configure, and install complex security solutions, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.</li><li><strong>Project Oversight</strong>: Oversee system commissioning, final closeout, and quality assurance on assigned projects. Provide technical guidance on software platforms (e.g., Genetec, Software House, Lenel, Gallagher, Milestone, etc.) and network configurations (Cisco, HP).</li><li><strong>Advanced Troubleshooting</strong>: Serve as an escalation point for complex engineering issues, leveraging expertise in network design, VLAN configuration, firewall setup, Windows Server environments, design questions/issues, software support for vendors/products we deal with, etc.</li><li><strong>Travel & On-Site Support</strong>: Provide on-site commissioning or troubleshooting as needed. Travel requirements may vary based on project complexity and location. Meet with customers on as needed basis.</li></ul><li><strong>Team Management & Leadership (30%)</strong></li><ul><li><strong>People Management</strong>: Lead, mentor, and support a team of Systems Engineers—providing guidance, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional development.</li><li><strong>Resource Coordination</strong>: Assign projects, manage workloads, and ensure efficient utilization of engineering resources to meet project timelines and objectives.</li><li><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration</strong>: Work closely with Business Development, Operations, and Project Management to align project scopes, timelines, and budgets. Communicate progress regularly to stakeholders.</li><li><strong>Process Improvement</strong>: Identify and implement best practices, standard operating procedures, and documentation standards to enhance overall engineering efficiency and consistency.</li><li><strong>Strategic Planning</strong>: Collaborate with departmental leadership to forecast resource needs, develop strategic initiatives, and drive growth in the enterprise security systems market.</li></ul></ol><p><strong>Experience & Skills</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Technical Expertise</strong>:</li><ul><li>10+ years of experience in <strong>Access Control</strong>, <strong>Video Surveillance</strong>, and <strong>Network Design</strong>—particularly for commercial or enterprise environments.</li><li>Pre-sales experience, working on Bills of Material and Statements of Work from small to complex projects. Working with end-users to talk through system upgrades, planning of new system features, expansions, etc.</li><li>Hands-on experience with <strong>Windows Server</strong> configuration, server/workstation troubleshooting, IP network fundamentals, and switch configurations.</li></ul><li><strong>Security Software Platforms</strong>:</li><ul><li>Expertise in at least three or more of the following: <strong>Genetec, Software House (CCure), Lenel, Gallagher, Milestone, Avigilon, Commend, Feenics, AMAG</strong> (or similar).</li></ul><li><strong>Leadership & Management</strong>:</li><ul><li>Demonstrated success <strong>leading technical teams</strong>, managing deliverables, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.</li><li>Strong ability to <strong>multi-task</strong>, prioritize assignments, and adapt to shifting project demands.</li><li>Strong ability to work independently and support your team as needed as well as excellent time management and organizational skills.</li></ul></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Education</strong>:</li><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in a technical field such as Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.</li></ul><li><strong>Communication & Collaboration</strong>:</li><ul><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.</li><li>Team-oriented mindset with a proven track record of building positive working relationships.</li></ul><li><strong>Technology Proficiency</strong>:</li><ul><li>Proficient with the <strong>Microsoft Office</strong> suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).</li><li>Familiarity with ticketing systems, project management software, or other workflow tools is advantageous.</li></ul><li><strong>Travel Flexibility</strong>:</li><ul><li>Willingness to travel up to <strong>20%</strong> of the time (or as project load dictates) for on-site support, particularly for enterprise accounts that require onsite commissioning.</li></ul></ul><p><strong>Work Environment & Benefits</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Growth Opportunities</strong>: As UT continues to expand, this role offers significant opportunities for career advancement, professional development, and leadership.</li><li><strong>Remote/Hybrid Setup</strong>: Depending on the candidate’s location and project assignments, a remote or hybrid schedule may be available.
