The Opportunity:

Are you a strategic thinker, self motivated, with an established government business development track record that is mission driven? If you thrive in deciphering complex organizations and challenging selling environments, then this is a game-changing opportunity for you. Flock is looking to build a Strategic Relations/Business Development team to help engage with leaders in major metropolitan markets and build the foundation for Flock Safety to solve more crime. This person will play a key role in helping the Flock Safety grow, focusing on highly populated major metro areas, working cross functionally with sales, government affairs, consultants and Flock Safety leadership to engage a wide variety of stakeholders. The position requires regional travel up to 50% during peak seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive key account strategies, aligning with the organization's overall objectives.

  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, government officials, and industry partners, to promote collaboration and identify new opportunities.

  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including contracts, partnerships, and initiatives that align with the organization's capabilities and strategic goals.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, government affairs, lobbyist, consultants and executive team unlock opportunities for sales.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience working with government and public safety technology.

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of law enforcement operations, procurement processes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Skills: Strong strategic thinking, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and proficiency in market analysis and proposal development.

The First 30 Days

  • Understand the Accounts, the Business and the Industry

    • Review Flock Safety’s customers.

    • Study past performance metrics: win rates, revenue trends, and customer feedback.

    • Research competitors and their strategies.

    • Identify strategic areas of engagement.

  • Internal Alignment

    • Meet with internal stakeholders to understand account histories, strategies, and existing challenges.

    • Evaluate tools and processes used for managing accounts (e.g., CRM systems).

    • Familiarize yourself with internal product or service offerings that align with the account’s needs.

The First 60 Days

  • Develop Strategic Account Plans

    • Create a strategic plan for each major account, including:

      1. Long-term goals and objectives.

      2. Short-term priorities and deliverables.

      3. Growth opportunities (e.g., upselling, cross-selling, or expanding the relationship).

    • Include SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis for each account.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with broad Flock Safety teams to assess engagement level.

    • Up-level engagement with strategic account leadership.

  • Leverage Relationships and Partnerships

    • Engage key government stakeholders and partners.

    • Be present at key stakeholder events and meetings.

The First 90 Days

  • Execute Strategic Initiatives

    • Implement tailored solutions and initiatives outlined in the account plans.

    • Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of commitments.

  • Strengthen Relationships

    • Deepen relationships with senior executives and decision-makers within each account.

    • Proactively communicate progress, results, and next steps to maintain transparency.

  • Track Performance and Adjust

    • Regularly review account KPIs and progress against goals.

    • Gather feedback from both internal teams and account stakeholders to refine your approach.

  • Prepare for Long-Term Success

    • Refine and formalize account strategies for long-term growth and retention.

    • Document lessons learned and best practices to share with the broader team.

  • Expand Key Strategic Relationships

    • Establish regular communication with key decision-makers in target agencies.

    • Nurture existing relationships and seek introductions to additional stakeholders.

The Interview Process

  1. Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.

  2. The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.

  3. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.

  4. The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between 220-240,000K OTE as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.

At Flock Safety, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators.
