This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Snap Inc. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Growth, Level 6 in California, USA.

This role offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation and impact across high-scale growth products in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. You will architect, design, and implement distributed systems that reach hundreds of millions of users, balancing short-term execution with long-term strategic objectives. As a technical leader, you will influence engineering decisions across multiple teams, mentor developers, and set the roadmap for complex initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with Product, Operations, and Data Science teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions. You will help shape the technical direction, ensuring operational excellence and high availability in mission-critical systems.

Accountabilities

  • Architect, design, and develop distributed systems to support large-scale growth initiatives.
  • Lead complex technical projects, balancing near-term priorities with long-term strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, Data Science, and Engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Advocate for best practices in scalability, availability, operational excellence, and cost management.
  • Mentor and guide a team of developers, fostering collaboration, growth, and technical excellence.
  • Influence technical decisions and provide domain expertise across the Growth and Messaging organization.
  • Drive measurable outcomes through strategic planning, roadmap creation, and team leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 9+ years of industry experience, with at least 2 years in technical leadership or domain-expert roles.
  • Proven experience architecting and delivering distributed, highly-available systems at scale.
  • Strong programming, software design, debugging, performance analysis, and test design skills.
  • Ability to solve ambiguous problems and make strategic technical decisions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across organizational levels.
  • Preferred experience with backend services, push notifications, telephony, email systems, or large-scale attribution and measurement projects.
