Staff Platform Engineer (Remote)

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a technical leader to drive the architecture, design, and operations of cloud-native, mission-critical applications. You will work on building a modern platform for internal clients with a focus on self-service, automation, and high reliability. The position requires hands-on involvement in production cloud engineering, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices while mentoring and guiding other engineers. You will be a key player in shaping scalable, fault-tolerant systems and ensuring platform stability and security. Accountabilities:

·        Design, develop, and deploy automated solutions for highly available, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure.

·        Streamline and standardize internal development and deployment processes.

·        Create and maintain detailed technical specifications and documentation for proposed solutions.

·        Provide on-call production infrastructure support as part of a team rotation, ensuring platform stability and rapid incident response.

·        Mentor and coach team members through code reviews, design discussions, and best practices for platform engineering.

·        Implement CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using modern tools.

·        Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, security, and disaster recovery measures.

Requirements

·        7+ years of technical experience in engineering, with 3+ years leading architecture, design, and operations efforts.

·        3+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code in production environments.

·        3+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes architectures and scaling.

·        Strong expertise in building highly available and fault-tolerant cloud-based systems with security and disaster recovery as key priorities.

·        Proficiency in multiple programming languages and experience developing responsive APIs and supporting services.

·        Solid experience with Linux environments and network engineering.

·        Expertise implementing CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and platform automation using tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible.

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

·        Strong problem-solving skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to influence without authority.

·        Experience mentoring engineers and promoting best practices in platform development.
Preferred Qualifications:

·        Experience with Ruby, Python, Go, or Kubeflow.

·        Experience with multiple SQL and NoSQL databases.

·        Advanced degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

·        Deep knowledge of web and internet standards, with a security-first mindset.
