This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Engineer Cloud Scalability in United States.

We are seeking a Staff Engineer specializing in cloud scalability to optimize and future-proof high-performance cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will lead efforts to enhance application reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across globally distributed systems. Working closely with multiple small, cross-functional engineering teams, you will design and implement scalable architectures, improve observability, and ensure cloud systems can handle rapid growth. This position offers the chance to influence infrastructure strategy, set best practices, and contribute to the evolution of enterprise cloud operations. You will play a key role in maintaining high availability, leading incident response, and ensuring measurable performance improvements. This is a remote role available for U.S.-based candidates with the right to work without sponsorship.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead capacity planning, autoscaling, and performance optimization across cloud infrastructure.
  • Define and enforce best practices for scalability, reliability, observability, and infrastructure resilience.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and propose improvements to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement microservices infrastructure, containerization strategies, and API gateways, ensuring scalability and adherence to data contracts.
  • Implement and improve monitoring and metrics systems to diagnose performance bottlenecks using modern tooling.
  • Partner with engineering teams to enforce SLOs/SLAs and lead incident response for high-severity cloud issues.
  • Provide solutions to measure and predict cloud costs relative to resource utilization.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, SRE, or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
  • Deep knowledge of AWS services including ECS, EC2, EKS, S3, CloudFront, CloudWatch, KMS, RDS, and related configurations.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, Go, or similar).
  • Familiarity with profiling tools and performance testing frameworks (e.g., AppDynamics, Jaeger, VisualVM).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, caching, event-driven architecture, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (BitBucket, GitHub, Jenkins).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with high-traffic, globally distributed environments.
  • US citizen or green card holder.
  • AWS professional certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range: $174,600 – $220,000 USD.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Parental leave and life/disability coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match from day one.
  • Remote work flexibility.
  • Investment in training, tools, and professional development.
