We are looking for an engineer who is excited about shaping the future of cloud-based development as part of our US-based team. At Coder, you will drive the extensibility of our core product through tool development, API design, and community engagement.

What you’ll do here…

  • Define the technical direction and architecture for open-source projects that enhance and integrate with our core product, in close collaboration with our users

  • Build, maintain, and release popular projects that integrate with VS Code, JetBrains, and other developer tools

  • Provide mentorship and guidance around contribution best practices to internal team members as well as to external contributors

  • Work alongside Product and Design teams at Coder, as well as with partners like JetBrains and Spotify, to execute on broad platform goals

  • Work alongside Customer Success teams to support Coder’s enterprise user base

What we’re looking for…

  • 6+ years of full-stack experience writing code in a professional setting

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Go, as well as shell scripting

  • Currently based in the United States

  • Familiarity with different operating systems

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals: IP, TCP, TLS, SSH, & HTTP

  • Background in developer tooling, platform engineering, or IaC

  • Experience maintaining libraries or plugins, particularly those that are open-source

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong work ethic and EQ

  • Self-motivated, with a creative and analytical mindset

  • Startup experience

  • Proficiency in Kotlin

  • Experience working in both startups and larger organizations

  • A curiosity about the latest tech trends and what is going on in the world of developer tools

Interview Process 

We believe that the interview process should be consistent and enjoyable. We value your time and hope to get through the interview process in two to three weeks if schedules allow. During this time, you will be able to meet a mix of individual contributors, managers, and leadership.
