Kindred is a members-only home swapping network that unlocks the ability to live a travel-rich lifestyle through the power of community. By exchanging primary residences with trusted peers, renters and owners alike can match with Kindred spirits and explore new destinations without breaking the bank.

We are on a mission to build a sharing economy that lives up to the name, and we’ve raised significant capital from some of the best investors in Silicon Valley, including Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, New Enterprise Associates, Bessemer Venture Partners, Caffeinated Capital, Elad Gil, and the founders of Opendoor, Figma, ClassPass, Clubhouse, Divvy, Gem, and Homebound.

The co-founders are proven leaders from the early team at proptech company Opendoor ($15B+ exit) and have each separately built and scaled products that today do $1B+ annual revenue combined.

We’re looking for the world’s top builders, executors, and believers to join us on this ride.

The Role

As the founding Staff Data Scientist for Marketing Analytics, you will be a strategic partner and thought leader driving our member growth strategy. You will be the dedicated data partner to the Marketing leadership team, responsible for shaping our measurement strategy, guiding investment decisions, and building our marketing data foundations from the ground up.

This is a hybrid role that requires not only deep analytical insight and predictive modeling but also the ability to deconstruct ambiguous business goals into a clear, data-driven roadmap. You will be instrumental in defining how we measure success and influencing the direction of a multi-million dollar marketing budget.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a Strategic Thought Partner: Partner directly with the Head of Marketing and other leaders to frame key business problems, define our marketing measurement strategy, and guide investment decisions.

  • Define and Own Marketing Measurement: Move beyond dashboards to establish the frameworks for measuring our entire marketing funnel, from top-of-funnel brand investments to bottom-funnel activation and long-term value.

  • Lead and Scale Marketing Experimentation: Design, execute, and analyze complex incrementality tests (e.g., geo-lift studies, multi-cell experiments) to determine the true causal impact of new strategies, channels, and brand campaigns.

  • Pioneer Foundational Marketing Science Models: Build and deploy sophisticated models for member LTV prediction, marketing mix modeling (MMM), and multi-touch attribution to drive sustainable and efficient growth.

  • Drive Strategy with Insights: Conduct deep-dive analyses into marketplace dynamics, understanding the trade-offs between acquisition, activation, and network liquidity to inform a holistic growth strategy.

  • Influence and Educate: Translate complex analytical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations and effectively persuade senior stakeholders to adopt data-informed strategies, even when the data is inconvenient.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in a quantitative role such as marketing analytics or data science, with a proven track record of influencing strategy at a leadership level, preferably within a consumer tech or marketplace company.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Expert-level proficiency in SQL.

    • Advanced programming skills in Python or R for statistical analysis and modeling.

    • Experience with a BI tool such as Mode, Metabase, or Looker.

    • Familiarity with modern data warehouses.

  • Analytical & Strategic Skills:

    • Strategic Problem Framing: You are a systems-thinker who excels at deconstructing ambiguous business goals (e.g., "grow revenue by 20%") into a clear, measurable, and phased data-driven plan.

    • Deep Expertise in Causal Inference: You have hands-on experience designing and executing quasi-experiments to measure the "unmeasurable," such as the ROI of brand marketing, using techniques like geo-based lift studies, Difference-in-Differences, or Media Mix Modeling (MMM).

    • Business Acumen & Investment Guidance: You can frame complex trade-offs (e.g., short-term performance vs. long-term brand building) as portfolio optimization problems and create decision frameworks to guide leadership on multi-million dollar investment decisions.

    • Leadership & Influence: You have exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to simplify complex concepts and persuade senior stakeholders to trust the data and embrace new measurement strategies.

  • Mindset:

    • You are a proactive, self-starting individual who is comfortable with ambiguity and excited to build a foundational data science function from scratch in a fast-paced environment.

    • You are defined by the quality of your questions and your relentless curiosity to understand the "why" behind the data.

Our Benefits:

At Kindred, we know that good things happen when we look out for one another. We offer our employees the following benefits:

  • Our opening spans more than one career level. The base salary offered depends on many factors, such as work experience, transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.

  • A vibrant, inclusive, and highly skilled team that ferociously protects team chemistry

  • A culture of championship (vs. just mentorship), feedback, and continual development

  • Competitive cash compensation and equity

  • Comprehensive health benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • Unlimited credits to stay at Kindred homes during your time as an employee

  • $4,000 annual travel stipend to use toward travel costs to stay at a Kindred home

  • Remote-flexible work environment. We encourage team members to travel and adventure, including working from Kindred HQ in San Francisco!

  • Regular offsites to co-locate with the team
