Staff Cloud Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Cloud Engineer based in the United States.

In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and scaling cloud infrastructure that supports mission-critical systems operating at global scale. You will work across platform engineering, DevOps, networking, and infrastructure-as-code to deliver highly reliable and secure cloud environments. The position sits within a collaborative engineering organization where you will partner closely with cloud, network, and software engineers to drive architecture decisions and improve system performance. You will be responsible for ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across multi-cloud environments. This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences system resilience and the delivery of advanced data-driven capabilities. The environment is fast-paced, technically complex, and focused on solving real-world problems with cloud-native technologies.

Accountabilities:

Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security for mission-critical systems.

Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform to enable repeatable and scalable cloud provisioning.
Collaborate with platform, network, and software engineering teams to define cloud architecture and infrastructure strategy.
Lead cloud-to-cloud migration initiatives, including assessment, re-architecture, and execution of cutover plans.
Implement and enhance observability and monitoring solutions to ensure system health, performance, and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and cloud-related issues across distributed systems.
Support continuous improvement of cloud operations, automation, and deployment practices.
Contribute to architectural decisions that improve scalability, resilience, and efficiency of cloud systems.

Requirements:

This role requires strong hands-on cloud engineering expertise combined with the ability to operate in complex, multi-cloud environments. Candidates should be comfortable working across infrastructure, networking, and platform engineering disciplines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

4+ years of experience managing and operating cloud infrastructure in AWS and GCP.
Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
Solid understanding of cloud networking, distributed systems, and cloud architecture principles.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Cloud Monitoring, or Prometheus.
Proven ability to plan and execute cloud migration projects across environments.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex cloud environments.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong communication skills and ability to contribute to architectural discussions.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
