This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Attorney – Domestic Violence in United States.

In this role, you will provide legal representation and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence across a range of sensitive family court matters. You will support clients through cases involving family offenses, custody, visitation, support, and related proceedings, ensuring they receive strong legal protection during moments of vulnerability. The position offers the opportunity to engage in litigation, community outreach, and education efforts that strengthen access to justice. You will collaborate with colleagues, community partners, and service providers while maintaining high professional standards. This full-time role is based in the Yonkers region and plays a pivotal part in ensuring equitable legal support for individuals in crisis.


Accountabilities:
  • Represent survivors of domestic violence in family court matters including family offenses, custody, visitation, and support cases.
  • Manage intakes, conduct individual case work, prepare motions, and handle litigation in state courts, including trials and occasional appellate practice.
  • Provide education and outreach to community members, advocates, and service providers to strengthen awareness and access to legal support.
  • Adhere to program standards, funder requirements, and internal case handling expectations.
  • Serve as a resource to colleagues and participate in initiatives supporting access-to-justice communities.
Requirements:
  • Admission to the New York State Bar, or bar passage with admission pending.
  • One or more years of legal experience, including litigation, or demonstrated commitment to family law through coursework and internships.
  • Strong understanding of domestic violence dynamics and trauma-informed advocacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and client populations.
  • Preferred: commitment to serving low-income communities, prior experience in legal services, bilingual English/Spanish, and experience in family court representation.

  • Salary range of $76,997 to $130,164, depending on experience, aligned with union scale.
