Sr. Technical Writer

Since 1995, we’ve harnessed that power to offer proven, performance-based solutions for our utility, government, and institutional customers.</div>We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join our Growth Management and Strategy (GMS) team. As part of our GMS team, Senior Technical Writers provide essential services for Energy Solutions' projects. They contribute to a wide range of documents in response to external client requests. Assignments may include creating original content, editing existing materials, or drafting documents. Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in <a class="c-link" href="https://energy-solution.com/contact-us/" target="_blank" data-stringify-link="https://energy-solution.com/contact-us/" data-sk="tooltip_parent">six different locations</a>. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team. At this time, we are not accepting applications from candidates residing in the following states: Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wyoming. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: <ul><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Draft or edit original content for research papers, program reports, proposed regulations, position papers, articles for industry publications, blog posts, and other client-facing and public-facing work. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Engage with complex regulatory and technical material and convey that in clear, comprehensible written communications.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Handle a variety of content, structural, and copy-editing duties across a range of reports, papers, and articles.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Provide strong leadership and client management skills when collaborating cross-departmentally on key reports and articles.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Help ensure consistent standards and voice throughout all reports, papers, and other deliverables by adhering to company and client editorial style guidelines and blending the disparate contributions of multiple authors into one cohesive voice.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Develop a strong understanding of Energy Solutions’ products and services. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Collaborate cross-functionally to gather industry expertise, and information about services, projects, and business strategy, to inform written work and assist with editing, proofreading, document preparation and publication. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Identify creative ways to visually convey information and collaborate with Creative Services team to develop meaningful graphics. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Draft or edit content for RFP responses or other proposals to support Energy Solutions’ business development and project implementation. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Build content libraries to support writing efforts. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Assist with internal help requests from colleagues for inquiries about writing, grammar, citation, and Microsoft Word support.</li></ul>  Minimum qualifications: <ul><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">A bachelor's degree preferably in science, engineering, philosophy, journalism, or another writing-focused discipline. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, preferably in civil engineering, energy, regulatory, or climate topics. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">This is a senior role that requires a proven track record of managing the scope and direction of writing deliverables from start to finish.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Strong experience presenting complex technical information to a broad audience, including clients and leadership executives. Must be detail-oriented with ability to grasp and succinctly articulate technical information, as well as demonstrate the ability to write and edit for clarity and understanding.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Exceptional copyediting skills and familiarity with academic publishing standards for grammar, usage, citations, and punctuation.  </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Strong experience with narrative structure development and content editing, particularly in coordination with multiple authors.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Advanced skills in Microsoft Word required, including use of advanced formatting, templates, and citations.</li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Proficient in use of digital collaboration tools, specifically Microsoft 365 (Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with Slack, SharePoint, or Salesforce is a plus. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Collaborative style, able to adapt to changing schedules and situations and collaborate with various partners including technical subject matter experts and other specialized staff. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Strong work ethic, time management, and communication skills.  </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Ability to function effectively both independently and within a team environment working with remote colleagues.  </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">A proven professional or personal commitment to the betterment of the environment and the reduction of GHGs is a strong plus. </li><li style="font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;">A writing sample and copyediting test will be required during the interview process</li></ul>  Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of $92k - $125k/Annually  <div class="content-conclusion">Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package.
