About the role
As a Senior Tax Preparer at Uplinq, you will lead the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns for a diverse range of clients, including individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates and nonprofits. You’ll work closely with leadership, mentor junior staff, and help improve tax processes. This role is great for a seasoned tax pro who enjoys a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.
What you'll do
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates and nonprofits.
- Conduct tax research and planning to identify opportunities that minimize client tax liabilities.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement internal tax policies, quality control procedures, and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with bookkeeping and accounting teams to ensure alignment of financial data used in tax returns.
- Review financial records, income statements, and supporting documents to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and regulations.
- Review junior staff work and provide mentorship on complex tax matters.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field; Master’s in Tax preferred
- 6+ years of experience in tax preparation and review.
- Proficient with tax software such as CCH Axcess, Drake, Lacerte, or ProSeries
- Strong Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks Online
- Solid bookkeeping and financial statement understanding
