In this role, you will lead the design and development of advanced 5G ORAN, RF, and SATCOM systems for tactical and hybrid networks. You will architect resilient, secure communications solutions for mobile and airborne platforms, driving innovation in Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) and Low Probability of Detection (LPD) technologies. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will mentor DSP and embedded software engineers while ensuring integration, testing, and system-level performance of complex communications solutions. This role involves occasional travel and provides the opportunity to influence cutting-edge military and defense communications projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Architect integrated RF, SATCOM, and IP-based communication systems, focusing on 5G waveforms, DSSS, Frequency Hopping, and OpenAirInterface.
  • Lead and mentor DSP and embedded software engineering teams to deliver robust, real-time communications solutions.
  • Adapt and extend 5G OpenAirInterface stacks to meet secure LPI/LPD requirements.
  • Conduct system simulations, link budgets, interference analysis, and RF propagation assessments.
  • Oversee integration and testing of communication systems in laboratory and field settings.
  • Interface with hardware and software teams to optimize system-level performance.
  • Author technical documentation, specifications, and government deliverables.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in communications systems with leadership experience. Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in 5G ORAN, RAN, RF, or SATCOM systems engineering.
  • Hands-on expertise with 5G OpenAirInterface stack (gNB, EPC/5GC, UE integration).
  • Strong knowledge of DSSS, Frequency Hopping, digital signal processing, and embedded software development.
  • Experience leading teams of DSP and software engineers.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, STK, or similar simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with tactical and commercial MANET radios.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance (or eligibility).
  • Preferred experience with 5G core deployment, containerized environments, network slicing, and UAV communications.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $150,000–$200,000 annually.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Remote work flexibility with travel opportunities.
  • Opportunities for professional development and technical growth.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Participation in cutting-edge defense and military communications projects.
