About ALSO.

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

ALSO is looking for a Sr. Manager, Retail Development to lead the design, build-out, and execution of our physical retail footprint. This is a critical role that will translate our brand vision into impactful, functional, and scalable retail environments. You will own the retail build-out pipeline, managing all aspects of architectural design, retail construction execution, and fixture procurement, partnering closely with the Director of Real Estate & Workplace Services on site acquisition and base building construction.

What You Will Do

  • Store Development: Lead the sourcing, development, and delivery of store experiences across a range of formats including:

    • Owned ALSO showrooms

    • Pop-up retail environments, both standalone and within partner spaces

    • Shop in shop in strategic partner stores and showrooms

    • Mobile pop up for events and auxiliary commercial capacity

    • POP/display in partner retail designed to boost brand awareness.

  • Design & Brand Execution: Collaborate with internal commercial and creative teams and external architecture firms to develop and apply scalable design packages that maintain brand integrity.

  • Fixture and FF&E Procurement: Manage the design, vendor selection, fabrication, and deployment of all proprietary retail fixtures, visual merchandising elements, and operational equipment (FF&E) across the network.

  • Visual Merchandising: Develop ALSO’s visual merchandising approach for product and create scalable processes to apply across various retail formats.

  • Budget and Schedule Management: Manage the capital expenditure budget for all retail-specific projects, ensuring store fit-outs are delivered on time and within approved cost targets.

  • Real Estate Partnership: Support site selection due diligence by providing retail requirements and design input for lease negotiations.

  • Design & Construction Vendor Management: Select, onboard, and manage retail specialty vendors (e.g., millworkers, installation teams, AV integrators). Coordinate the retail construction timeline with the Director of Real Estate and general contractors.

  • Cross-Functional Handoff: Coordinate with the Field Sales Operations team to establish operational readiness, inventory delivery, and final store set-up prior to store handover.

What You Will Bring

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in retail store development for a national or global consumer brand.

  • Experience with multiple retail formats, including full-scale tenant improvements and shop-in-shop/display concepts.

  • Deep knowledge of the retail fit-out process, including design development, value engineering, permitting, and construction administration.

  • Exceptional project management skills, with a focus on timeline adherence and CapEx budget control.

  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships (designers, fixture fabricators) and demanding quality standards.

  • Willingness to travel (30-40%) for site visits, construction walk-throughs, and vendor management.

  • A passion for small EVs, experiential retail, and creating memorable physical consumer journeys.

The estimated annual compensation for this position ranges from $145,000 - $165,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. There will also be a target annual performance bonus. Bonus payouts vary based on company and individual performance.
