Senior DevOps Engineer, Developer Experience

Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer – Developer Experience & CI/CD

Location : SF Bay Area preferred, hybrid 2x/week

WitnessAI is a leader in providing innovative networking solutions designed to enhance security, performance, and reliability for businesses of all sizes.We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the design and management of our developer experience, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized application builds in Kubernetes. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure and tools that enable productivity, automation, and secure deployments at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

CI/CD Pipeline Management:

• Design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient CI/CD pipelines.

• Ensure all tests run seamlessly in the pipeline, enabling fast and reliable deployments.

• Design and implement RBAC frameworks for secure developer and team access to systems and resources.

Developer Productivity & Tooling:

• Lead initiatives to enhance developer productivity, including real-time static analysis tools, pull request automation, and integration with CI/CD workflows.

• Optimize build machines and reduce build times.

Kubernetes Containerization & Infrastructure:

• Build and manage containerized environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to automate and standardize environments.

• Develop and manage self-service platforms for environment provisioning and management.

Developer Portal:

• Create and maintain an intuitive internal developer portal for accessing tools, environments, and workflows.

• Build trend and metrics portals to provide insights on deployment efficiency and business impact.

SRE Enablement and Support:

• Contribute to SRE Tooling and automation

• Participate in Shared on call schedule with other team members

• Contribute to highly useful Observability solutions 

Experience:

• 10+ years in software and systems engineering, specializing in CI/CD, automation, DevOps practices, infrastructure, and cloud-native technologies.

• Experience as a Lead Engineer or Architect in a comparable DevOps organization and track record of improving developer experience through automation

• Is very comfortable with running anything and everything through a pipeline supported by repos.

• Comfortable with GitOps concepts and approaches
• Proficient in Python, Go (Golang), Shell (Bash).  Javascript a plus.

• Expertise with cloud services (preferably AWS and GCP) and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools: Jenkins, GitHub, Helm, Docker, Artifactory, CI/CD toolchains and more.

• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, web architecture, and database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis, Cassandra).

• Ability to balance technical depth with a broad focus on organizational goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with tools and strategies for secure CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps.

• Knowledge of monitoring tools like DataDog, Grafana, StatsD and APIs like OpenAI for productivity improvements.

Salary range:

$180,000-$220,000
