Job Description:

Project Overview

The team is decommissioning the mainframe and transitioning to Alpha, a cloud-based system.

The data warehouse resides in Azure; Alpha's ODS database will eventually become the new data source.

The goal is to identify a resource for the Spark Reporting Team (business side), with both technical reporting skills and strong business acumen.

Team: Spark Reporting (Business Side)

Must-Have Skills

• Power BI expertise: Creating dashboards, visuals, writing DAX, connecting to various data sources.
  
• Strong communication skills – ability to interface directly with business stakeholders.
  
• Documentation experience: Gathering, analyzing, and refining requirements.
  
• Basic SQL skills – querying databases, understanding data structure and flow.
  
• Comfortable working in a functional/business analyst hybrid role.
  

Nice-to-Have Skills

• SAS experience – not required, but beneficial for non-visual/reporting tasks.
  
• Familiarity with Alpha and its ODS database – preferred but rare.
  
• Experience using tools like iGrafx for process documentation (or similar tools).
  
• Exposure to Purview or other data governance tools.
  

Role Focus

• 2025: Heavy focus on documentation – analyzing and validating incoming requirements, ensuring completeness, and preparing development packages.
  
• Development work (building dashboards, reports, etc.) expected to begin in 2026.
  
• This role is a mix of reporting and documentation, leaning toward functional work upfront.
  

Additional Insights

• Ideal candidate resembles Michael Alvarez: strong business mindset with solid Power BI capabilities.
  
• While Alpha/ODS experience is rare, a strong Power BI profile who can learn quickly is preferred.
  

Interview Process:

• Initial screening with Andre.
  
• Second round focused on technical and development skills.
  
• Targeting candidates ASAP, preferably interviews before July 4th if possible.
  

Clarifications

• No Oracle Business Suite; all data will be passed from Alpha’s ODS into Azure.
  
• Power BI is prioritized over SAS – SAS can be learned on the job.
  
• Reporting tools (PBI/SAS) pull data from Azure, which will remain the reporting environment post-mainframe.
  

Experience with Alfa .

• Experience in PowerBI preferred and SAS enterprise guide a plus.
