What Makes You a Great Fit:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Software Engineering Intern to join our Payroll Engineering team. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience helping to build and scale reliable platform solutions that directly impact customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Working closely with engineers, product managers, and design partners, you will tackle real-world technical problems and contribute to user-facing features. You are eager to learn, care about code quality, and are excited to work with modern technologies in a collaborative environment. At Pebl, we’re building people-first software that businesses trust to support their teams—and you’ll play an active role in learning how we shape systems that matter.
This is a 12-week hybrid internship based in Palo Alto, CA.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Collaborate with engineers at varying Seniority levels, product managers, and designers to build and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
Write, test, and maintain applications and services using TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS in a serverless environment.
Assist in optimizing systems and processes to drive customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Learn and practice writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code aligned with our team standards.
Participate actively in technical discussions, design reviews, and team code reviews to develop your engineering skills.
Help troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Stay curious about emerging technologies and best practices to continuously enhance your technical toolkit.
Let’s Connect If You Have:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong foundational knowledge of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.
Academic or project experience with modern languages and technologies, preferably TypeScript, JavaScript, or backend systems.
Familiarity with databases (e.g., Postgres, SQL) and basic cloud concepts (e.g., AWS).
A lean mindset - Focus on delivering customer value by minimizing waste, optimizing workflows, fostering continuous improvement, and prioritizing in an iterative manner.
Strong problem-solving skills and a strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
