Join Verdance and help build digital services so government can work for everyone.
About the job
In this role, you’ll design and build critical government digital services. At first, you'll work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. You’ll join a cross-functional, dynamic team building critical healthcare APIs, figure out how to gracefully modernize existing systems, and ultimately help the government improve the quality of care for healthcare beneficiaries. This role is fully remote, but due to government policies around access to internal systems, all work must be performed in the continental United States.
Here are our must-haves for this role:
5+ years of software engineering experience
Some Java/SpringBoot experience
Substantial experience with a modern dynamic language like Ruby, Python, or JavaScript, and enthusiasm to pick up new tools and languages as needed
Experience writing efficient, maintainable code
Desire to work at a small company focused on thoughtful growth
Curiosity, scrappiness, patience, and humility
Here's what we hope you bring:
Healthcare experience or knowledge of the FHIR standard a big plus
Understanding of unit testing, CI/CD, and cloud services
Some infrastructure experience a plus—the team deploys in AWS and uses Terraform and Aurora
Any full-stack Rails experience or frontend experience a plus—the team maintains a Rails documentation/onboarding app along with the backend systems
Desire to learn about government and help make it better
Here’s what we’re offering in return:
125k-157k salary range
4 weeks PTO per year + federal holidays
Insurance, including dental and vision
401(k) matching at 4%
Flexible work schedule
A interview process that respects your time
Some administrative requirements of our government contracts:
Work authorization in the US
All work must take place in the continental US
Team members must have lived in the US for 3 out of the past 5 years
You'll have to pass a public trust government background investigation
