Sales Manager, East Coast

What will you do? 

The Sales Manager plays a vital role on the regional sales team by helping to facilitate the end-to-end sales process focused on the East and Rockies regions.  You will collaborate across internal departments, outside sales agencies, and accounts to motivate, support, and manage the seasonal strategy, sell-in, and sell-thru of Smartwool and icebreaker, driving toward our annual revenue plan and standing up each brand’s values. You will coordinate the workflow between sales, customer service, marketing, product, and the markets to execute the go-to-market process and any other special initiatives or projects which aim to increase brand awareness and ensure distribution strategies are aligned and communicated.

Territory Sales Management Partner with the Senior Regional Sales Manager – East & Rockies to support the East (New England, Mid Atlantic and Southeast) and Rockies territories thru the sell-in and sell-thru process.

  • Plan, forecast, and deliver territory revenue performance utilizing a comprehensive suite of data tools.

  • Develop effective relationships with sales agencies and representatives, key and regional accounts, and channel/industry stakeholders.

  • Present and sell brand product lines and brand marketing initiatives at sell-In meetings, leading brand-driven communication.

  • Track and communicate regional orderbook progress to forecasts.

  • Field account and agency requests, evaluate, make recommendations, respond, and act. 

  • Problem solve account and agency challenges using available tools, interdepartmental relationships and communication, and your critical thinking skills to improve customer experience.

  • Provide support and brand representation to agency and account stakeholders.

  • Communicate brand, sales, and marketing news and initiatives to regional sales force.

  • Gather and communicate brand, product, and market feedback and insights.

Sales Development Analysis Utilize data derived from analysis of customer sales and orderbooks to optimize sales processes, enhance customer engagement, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the organization.

Orderbook Management Monitor and track open orders to ensure optimized fulfilment and delivery to customers.  Assist in coordinating bulk order conversion processes, ensuring accurate order entry and fulfilment.  Anticipate, forecast, and deliver monthly/quarterly orderbook on behalf of the region with credit, customer service, and operations.  Identify and communicate orderbook risks and opportunities to the team.

Sales & Consumer Engagement Contribute to and co-host sales events, sales meetings, trade shows, customer engagement meetings, and promotional activities including planning, administrative, logistical, physical, and team support.  Contribute to buying group, channel, and strategic partner relationships.

Channel Management Support closeout sales channel.

What do you need to succeed?

Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 5+ years of experience and professional achievements.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are: 

  • Passion for the Smartwool and icebreaker brands and the categories we represent.

  • Confident communication – oral, presentation, and written.

  • Relationship-builder – collaborative with and curious about others.

  • Dedicated team player with service orientation.

  • Analytical thinker with penchant for problem solving.

  • 5 years’ experience in a sales or related field in the outdoor industry or with reasonable outdoor industry exposure.

  • A bachelor’s degree is nice to have but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements in customer service, retail sales, wholesale sales, account management, operations, order management, or related fields.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Fluent in English, any additional foreign languages considered as a plus.

Hiring Range:

$68,000.00 USD - $85,000.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
