Role Overview
As a Senior/Software Engineer at SamaCare, you will help eliminate administrative barriers that prevent patients from accessing life-changing therapies. Our platform streamlines prior authorization and other insurance workflows, enabling providers to deliver care faster and more efficiently.
In this role, you’ll focus primarily on backend development—designing APIs, integrating partner systems, and scaling our platform infrastructure. You’ll work in a TypeScript-based environment across services and occasionally contribute to frontend experiences in React.
This is a high-impact position for an engineer who thrives on owning systems end-to-end, enjoys solving complex operational challenges, and wants to build technology that improves real-world healthcare delivery.
Senior/Software Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design and build robust backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js to support provider tools, payer integrations, and automation workflows
- Lead technical ownership of key systems, including authentication, data pipelines, messaging, and audit/logging infrastructure
- Collaborate with product, data, and clinical teams to identify high-leverage backend opportunities and deliver secure, scalable solutions
- Occasionally contribute to the frontend in React, especially when full stack context is required to ship features
- Write clean, testable, well-documented code and help shape backend architecture and system design
- Participate in code reviews, observability improvements, incident resolution, and ongoing performance optimization
- Uphold best practices in HIPAA-compliant development, data privacy, and PHI protection
Senior/Software Engineer Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a backend or full stack engineer, with a strong backend orientation
- Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for backend development
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with asynchronous workflows, job queues, and third-party integrations (e.g., SFTP, RPA, EMR systems)
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across product, design, and clinical teams
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Bonus: Experience with AWS, infrastructure-as-code, or healthcare data formats (e.g., HL7, FHIR)
