This role focuses on leading complex transportation engineering projects that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency across diverse communities. You will manage the planning, design, and implementation of transportation systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and client requirements. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on technical expertise, including traffic operations, modeling, and intelligent transportation systems. You will also mentor and guide project teams, support business development initiatives, and drive innovation in transportation solutions. Ideal candidates are experienced engineers with strong project management skills, capable of navigating large-scale infrastructure projects in a dynamic environment. Accountabilities:
• Lead and manage large-scale transportation engineering and traffic operations projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and resource allocation.
• Provide technical expertise in traffic engineering, traffic operations, modeling, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
• Oversee preparation of engineering designs, plans, specifications, and reports for roadways, intersections, signals, and multimodal facilities.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to align project objectives and comply with standards.
• Mentor and guide project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
• Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license may be required.
• 12–15+ years of experience in transportation engineering and traffic operations with proven project management of complex initiatives.
• Expertise in traffic analysis and modeling software such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, MUTCD, AASHTO, and related standards.
• Experience with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and emerging transportation technologies is highly desirable.
• Exceptional project management skills, including budget, schedule, and multidisciplinary team management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to build strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff and support business development activities.
