This is a contingent position, and employment is dependent upon Element 84 receiving the contract award.
Element 84 is looking for a driven, experienced project manager to serve a client who is focused on rapidly building and launching a modernized version of a supply chain regulation platform. You’d keep the team and client on track as they redesign a large set of cohesive tools that serve a meaningful mission, ensuring safe working conditions and responsible business practices for some of the world's largest companies.
An ideal candidate for this role is excited to support engineers and designers in getting requirements just right through strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate with stakeholders, engineers, designers, and subject matter experts. You’re also motivated to ensure the team executes on time and on budget, using agile methods to drive incremental value. We’re seeking someone with past experience managing teams responsible for launching large-scale products.
At Element 84, project managers are expected to be intimately and proactively involved with their team's performance, execution, budget, and customer satisfaction. While each project's team can be different, often an Element 84 PM will act in the role of Scrum Master in the Agile Development Process, work with customers to make sure their requirements are translated into work from the team, and manage the delivery schedule.
You serve as the Product Owner or Scrum Master on your projects. You manage sprint processes and ceremonies, monitor the progress of the project, and report project status and risks to the Business Unit Director.
You set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress of your projects.
You develop detailed project plans and roadmaps to communicate the vision and future of your project, and you map dependencies from your roadmap to other teams in your space.
You make reliable, real-world time estimates and take into account previous iterations to continually improve your estimates.
You incorporate quality measures and standards to project deliverables.
You run formal planning sessions with all stakeholders to set the direction of your team's development efforts for a set duration of time.
You approve timesheets for the development team, ensure staffing allocations are accurate in our time tracking system, monitor the project's budget, and manage resourcing for team members with multiple projects several months into the future.
You work with the Business Development team to gather requirements, assess resourcing needs, plan project kickoff/initiation, review contracts, estimate budget, and both identify and mitigate risks for new projects.
You understand the market in which your product lives, you are able to contextualize how your users interact with your product, and you are able to anticipate your customers' future needs.
You understand the requirements and design implications for the product and operate as a thought partner in ensuring sound decisions are made that set the product up for long term success.
As a customer-facing leader, you help the team understand high-level customer goals and the value of individual feature requests so that the team may deliver the most value possible
You help the customer understand Element 84's development process and advocate for better processes so that the development team is not hindered by external factors
You seek opportunities to grow the team by engaging with the customer and driving a vision for your projects
You build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in your projects
You are comfortable pushing back thoughtfully on either the team or stakeholders to ensure the project goals are kept in mind, but ensure a positive, thoughtful communication pattern is maintained and are willing to adjust if different methods or ideas better serve the project than the initial plans.
You collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, data scientists, business users, and other project managers to achieve elegant solutions
You continually improve the experience of all involved in the project.
You proactively identify and mitigate risks to the project.
You appropriately communicate risks to the Business unit director if needed.
You have a thorough understanding of the technology tools used on your project, and can explain and justify the use of these technologies.
