Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Systems Engineer to provide expert level engineering, administration, and optimization of the firm’s Systems/Compute infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our enterprise systems while driving innovation and efficiency across the environment.  As a senior member of the Systems team, you will collaborate closely with the Manager of Systems to align system strategies with firmwide objectives; lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of compute and virtualization platforms; provide mentorship and guidance to the Systems team, fostering technical growth and operational excellence; and champion best practices, system automation, and performance optimization initiatives.  Responsibilities <ul><li>Design, implement, and manage the firm’s core systems, including compute, networks, storage, Exchange, physical and virtual servers, Active Directory and Group Policy, Certificate Services, authentication platforms, and remote access/mobility solutions.  </li><li>Administer and support cloud-based platforms and services such as Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and AWS.  </li><li>Monitor, maintain, and optimize system performance to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.  </li><li>Perform routine, scheduled, and long-term maintenance, as well as user-facing service tasks, to maintain a high standard of operational excellence.  </li><li>Provide expert-level escalation support for complex technical issues.  </li><li>Mentor internal IT team members in network and systems operations, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer across the firm.  </li><li>Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, training materials, and change management records.  </li><li>Build and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and IT service providers to support operational and project needs.  </li><li>Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.  </li><li>Be available for occasional overtime, non-standard hours, or travel in support of projects and operational needs. Ensure integrations are secure, efficient, and aligned with enterprise architecture and governance standards. </li><li>Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant security protocols and regulations in collaboration with Information Security, Applications, and Infrastructure teams. </li><li>Collaborate with appropriate cross-functional technology teams to complete risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential security vulnerabilities. </li><li>Maintain documentation of data flows, API endpoints, schemas, and integration logic. </li><li>Contributes to the selection, implementation, and optimization of integration platforms.  </li><li>Support data quality, integrity, and reconciliation efforts across systems. </li></ul>Qualifications <ul><li>10+ years as a Systems Engineer with Microsoft server and Linux operating systems within enterprise environments. </li><li>10+ years designing, building, securing, and managing virtualization technologies using the VMware stack (ESXi, vCenter) and Hyperconverged Infrastructure (Nutanix, Dell VxRail, HPE). </li><li>10+ years working with enterprise storage technologies Block (SCSI/NVMe), File (CIFS/NFS), and Object (S3). </li><li>10+ years working with enterprise backup and recovery technologies (Rubrik, Cohesity, Veeam). </li><li>Proven ability to manage enterprise-wide systems/compute infrastructure and multiple infrastructure components simultaneously. </li><li>Expert proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based enterprise environments, including Active Directory, M365, PKI design, support, and administration. </li><li>Advanced knowledge of VMware, Windows Server, TCP/IP, DNS, and related protocols. </li><li>Strong understanding of network design and management (LAN/WAN, MPLS, VPN, VLAN, Wi-Fi). </li><li>Solid working knowledge of encryption technologies and cybersecurity risk mitigation/system hardening techniques. </li><li>Advanced skills in PowerShell scripting for system utilities, automation, and administration. </li><li>Proficient in monitoring solutions (SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, Splunk, Aria). </li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field preferred; advanced degrees a plus. </li></ul><span data-ccp-parastyle="FH Block Text" data-ccp-parastyle-defn="{"ObjectId":"5c7cff8b-dcfa-59af-a1ae-8eca783fac4e|1","ClassId":1073872969,"Properties":[201342446,"1",201342447,"5",201342448,"1",201342449,"1",469777841,"Times New Roman",469777842,"Times New Roman",469777843,"Times New Roman",469777844,"Times New Roman",201341986,"1",469769226,"Times New Roman",268442635,"24",469775450,"FH Block Text",201340122,"2",134233614,"true",469778129,"FHBlockText",335572020,"1",335559740,"240",201341983,"0",335559739,"240",469777929,"FH Block Text Char",469778324,"Normal"]}" data-ccp-parastyle-linked-defn="{"ObjectId":"80ac4e05-f1f9-5f9a-99bf-d4e309ebe71d|1","ClassId":1073872969,"Properties":[469775450,"FH Block Text Char",201340122,"1",134233614,"true",469778129,"FHBlockTextChar",335572020,"1",134231262,"true",469777841,"Times New Roman",469777842,"Times New Roman",469777843,"Times New Roman",469777844,"Times New Roman",469769226,"Times New Roman",469777929,"FH Block Text",201342446,"1",201342447,"5",201342448,"1",201342449,"1",201341986,"1",268442635,"24"]}">The compensation range is $120,000 to $145,000 commensurate with related experience and qualifications. The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, and training.
