Ameresco is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Startup Technician to provide startup services for central energy systems, including chillers, boilers, microgrids, cogeneration, and combined heat and power (CHP) plants. This role is critical to ensuring the successful deployment and performance of complex energy infrastructure across multiple high-profile federal and commercial projects.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, hands-on experience with startup procedures, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineers, Controls Technicians, Commissioning agents, and Project Managers.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute startup procedures for HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, cogeneration plants, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, and microgrid systems.
Review and provide technical input on project designs during the project design phase.
Review and provide feedback on commissioning pre-functional checklists to ensure startup readiness.
Interface with controls contractors and engineers to validate the sequence of operations and ensure proper integration of building automation systems and plant control systems.
Document startup activities, deficiencies, and resolutions per project specifications, commissioning plans, and customer requirements.
Perform system-level functional testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification in coordination with the design intent and commissioning plan.
Support system tuning and optimization to meet energy performance targets and client expectations.
Maintain a strong safety culture and adhere to all site-specific safety protocols and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the startup, commissioning, or maintenance of HVAC, boilers, chillers, power plants, or microgrid systems.
Ability to review confidential U.S. security information.
Additional Qualifications:
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
Familiarity with federal energy projects and performance contracting is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Willingness to travel to project sites in all 50 states.
