This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Trust in the United States.

This role sits at the core of building and evolving large-scale trust and safety systems that protect a global platform and its users. You will help design and drive the technical vision for foundational infrastructure that detects and prevents fraud, ensures account integrity, and safeguards both online and offline interactions. Operating at a senior technical level, you will remain hands-on while shaping architecture, guiding long-term roadmaps, and influencing engineering direction across multiple teams. The work spans complex distributed systems, machine learning-powered decisioning, and platform-wide safety capabilities. You will collaborate closely with product, data science, and operations teams to address evolving risk and trust challenges. This is a highly impactful role where your decisions directly affect platform reliability, user safety, and global trust at scale.

Accountabilities
  • Define and drive the long-term technical vision and architecture for trust and safety systems, ensuring scalability, resilience, and cross-platform adoption.
  • Design and build foundational distributed systems that support fraud detection, identity verification, and trust decisioning across the platform.
  • Develop and enhance system observability, performance tooling, and reliability frameworks to ensure high availability of mission-critical services.
  • Contribute hands-on code to backend and platform systems while guiding architectural direction across multiple engineering teams.
  • Partner with product managers, data scientists, and risk/fraud teams to translate evolving threats into scalable technical solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional technical initiatives addressing fraud prevention, account security, and platform integrity challenges.
  • Mentor and elevate engineers across teams, helping develop future technical leaders within the trust engineering organization.
  • Drive improvements in developer experience, internal tooling, and platform usability for engineering teams.
  • Champion AI-assisted development practices, including the use of LLM-based tools to accelerate engineering productivity and system iteration.
  • Ensure reliability engineering best practices, including SLOs, incident response, resilience patterns, and system recovery strategies.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of backend and platform engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong experience designing mission-critical systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Proven ability to define and execute multi-year technical roadmaps across complex, multi-team environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala.
  • Deep understanding of system reliability practices, including observability, SLOs, incident management, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience working with large-scale infrastructure, platform engineering, or trust/safety systems is highly valued.
  • Strong ability to influence technical direction across teams without formal authority.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience collaborating across engineering, product, design, and executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including LLM-based coding tools, is a strong plus.
  • Experience improving developer experience and internal engineering tooling is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary range: $248,000 – $310,000 USD
  • Bonus and equity compensation opportunities
  • Employee Travel Credits
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings programs
  • Flexible remote work arrangement (US-eligible locations)
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Equity participation in long-term company growth
  • Inclusive, collaborative, and mission-driven engineering culture
  • Disability-inclusive accommodations and accessible hiring process support
