This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled backend engineer to contribute to the development of innovative digital products and platforms. The Senior Software Engineer will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to build scalable, high-performance systems and enhance content management and audience platforms. The position offers both remote and office-based flexibility, providing exposure to a wide range of technologies and opportunities to mentor junior team members. This role is ideal for someone passionate about backend development, problem-solving, and applying modern best practices to deliver reliable, impactful software solutions. The engineer will be empowered to influence architectural decisions, optimize system performance, and drive innovation across multiple projects.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain backend systems using Python and Django REST Framework, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs to facilitate integration across digital products and services.
  • Collaborate with product teams to conceptualize and build new features for digital media platforms.
  • Apply best practices in database design, optimization, and management for MySQL and PostgreSQL systems.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend-related issues to maintain system stability and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring maintainability, readability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to maintain CI/CD pipelines and support deployment processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant innovations into development workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven backend development experience, primarily using Python.
  • Strong experience with Python frameworks such as Django, and relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithmic problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in both remote and in-person settings.
  • Preferred: experience with content management systems, frontend frameworks (JavaScript, React, TypeScript), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to mentor and guide junior developers.
