This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Imaging Systems in United States.
This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, physics, and space-based imaging systems, contributing directly to the development and validation of advanced Earth observation technology. You will work on systems that process and interpret large-scale satellite imaging data, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of imaging payloads in both ground and orbital environments. The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams spanning hardware, optics, thermal systems, and mission operations. You will play a key role in building and validating imaging systems that support critical environmental, commercial, and scientific applications worldwide. This is a highly technical and impact-driven role where software meets aerospace engineering. It offers the opportunity to work on real-time systems that transform how Earth is observed and understood.
Accountabilities:- Develop and support imaging systems software used for satellite payload validation, calibration, and performance monitoring across ground and flight operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including optical engineering, mission operations, embedded systems, and data pipeline teams to ensure end-to-end system performance.
- Contribute to Verification & Validation (V&V) campaigns, ensuring imaging systems meet strict performance and quality requirements.
- Perform root-cause analysis of imaging anomalies and implement corrective software fixes, calibration updates, or system improvements.
- Build tools and pipelines for automated analysis, visualization, and processing of large-scale Earth observation datasets.
- Support integration, testing, and operational readiness of new imaging payloads and systems.
- Participate in system design discussions, helping bridge software engineering with optical and physical system constraints.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field, with 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to solve complex, multidisciplinary engineering problems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and/or FPGA-related development.
- Experience working with imaging systems, sensors, computer vision, photogrammetry, remote sensing, or GIS.
- Understanding of satellite subsystems such as optical systems, thermal systems, or guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
- Experience working in ambiguous, real-time, or mission-critical environments.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with large-scale data processing systems is a strong plus.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary ranging from $160,600 to $228,600 USD depending on location and experience.
- Eligibility for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity).
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contributions.
- Generous paid time off, holidays, and additional company-wide days off.
- 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Wellness program and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Home office and monthly phone/internet reimbursements.
- Tuition reimbursement and access to LinkedIn Learning.
- Equity participation in the company.
- Commuter benefits (for office-based employees) and volunteering paid time off.
- Fully remote work flexibility with optional office access where applicable.
