Accountabilities:

Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems and data pipelines for large-scale data processing
Build and support high-performance APIs and data services to reliably transport data to internal and external consumers
Optimize backend systems for cost, performance, and reliability, making pragmatic engineering trade-offs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that meet business and technical requirements
Maintain code quality through reviews, documentation, and adherence to best practices
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for reliability and observability
Contribute to the architecture and technical strategy for backend services and data infrastructure

Requirements:

5+ years of professional backend engineering experience
Proficiency in Python and strong SQL skills
Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and backend systems at scale
Familiarity with REST API design and ORM frameworks such as Django or SQLAlchemy
Hands-on experience with cloud services, particularly AWS (Redshift, Fargate, S3, RDS, IAM, OpenSearch, DynamoDB)
Ability to work with large, complex datasets and handle imperfect or evolving data requirements
Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork
Preferred: experience in small, high-autonomy teams, database performance tuning, workflow orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions), Terraform, or email verification systems
