Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

This role focuses on developing and maintaining the backend systems that power critical customer-facing and internal platforms. The Senior Software Engineer will work primarily on backend services, APIs, and data pipelines, with occasional full-stack contributions, ensuring seamless, scalable, and reliable solutions. You will design and implement complex integrations with third-party systems, contribute to AI-powered features, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. This position emphasizes technical leadership, mentorship, and the adoption of best practices across architecture, security, testing, and deployment. It offers an opportunity to impact user experience directly while working in a distributed, remote-first environment. You will also participate in on-call rotations to support system reliability and operational excellence.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Node.js and TypeScript
• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex integration projects, including third-party lending systems and AI-enabled features
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business partners to deliver innovative solutions
• Contribute to frontend development when needed to ensure seamless full-stack integration
• Implement best practices for architecture, security, monitoring, testing, and deployment
• Mentor and share knowledge with team members, fostering technical growth and collaboration
• Participate in on-call rotation to maintain high system availability and rapid incident response

• 5+ years of experience developing production-level software, including 3+ years in Node.js with frameworks like Fastify or Express
• Strong backend expertise using TypeScript and Node.js, with experience designing scalable RESTful/RPC APIs and integrating complex third-party systems
• Experience with AI/ML integration in production applications, including prompt engineering, LLMs, or ML APIs
• Product-minded engineering approach and comfort working with ambiguous requirements
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React/Next.js and ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), including services like ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, full development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring
• Experience working remotely in distributed teams and commitment to inclusive, equitable practices
