ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a senior-level designer with exceptional visual judgment and deep expertise in print production, packaging, and point-of-sale execution. This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in the details while maintaining a strong eye for brand consistency, quality, and shelf impact.
You’ll serve as our primary expert for packaging and print production—owning execution from concept refinement through final press approval. While this is not a people-management or strategic planning role, it does require confidence, accountability, and the ability to guide creative decisions based on real-world manufacturing constraints.
This role is ideal for a senior designer or art-director-caliber individual who prefers doing the work and ensuring it’s done right.
RESPONSIBILITIES/WHAT YOULL DO
- Own end-to-end production execution for packaging across multiple SKUs, formats, and substrates
- Prepare, review, and validate print-ready files for offset, flexographic, and digital printing in accordance with vendor specifications
- Manage technical production elements including dielines, bleeds, trapping, spot colors, coatings, varnishes, foils, holographic effects, and specialty finishes
- Ensure accurate color management (Pantone and CMYK), version control, and overall file integrity
- Review, approve, and sign off on printer proofs, prepress files, and press samples to ensure quality and minimize rework
- Act as a visual quality gatekeeper for packaging, point-of-sale, and retail materials
- Maintain consistency across packaging systems, layouts, typography, color, and finishes
- Partner with creative and marketing teams to refine designs, balancing visual impact with production feasibility
- Translate creative concepts into production-ready deliverables without compromising brand standards
- Work closely with marketing, sales, operations, and external vendors to align timelines and reduce revision cycles
- Communicate clearly with printers and manufacturers to resolve production challenges
- Manage SKU versioning, revisions, and archival systems to ensure accuracy and traceability
- Build and maintain production templates, technical documentation, and reference materials
- Improve workflows related to file preparation, approvals, and vendor handoffs to support scalability as product lines expand
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 5–8+ years of experience in packaging design, production design, or print production
- Demonstrated ownership of both visual quality and print execution
- Experience in CPG, wellness, food & beverage, or retail packaging
- Deep knowledge of print processes, materials, substrates, and packaging constraints
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Experience managing multiple SKUs and fast-moving revisions
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational habits
- Clear, direct communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
- Ability to operate independently and take full accountability for deliverables
A portfolio showing high-quality packaging and retail work through final production is strongly preferred.
NICE TO HAVE
- Familiarity with point-of-sale, trade marketing, and retail execution
- Experience working directly with external printers, co-manufacturers, or packaging vendors
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
