OVERVIEW:
At Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Sr. Portfolio Manager – Foundations plays a critical role in enabling secure, scalable, and reliable technology that powers next-generation retail experiences for our athletes and teammates. This role spans Foundational Technology and Cyber Security & Digital Trust, ensuring enterprise platforms, infrastructure, and security capabilities are aligned to support business growth and operational resilience.
This leader is responsible for driving strategic planning, portfolio execution, and cross-team dependency alignment across key domains including Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Architecture, and Cyber Security & Digital Trust. By advancing a modern, product-centric operating model, the Sr. Portfolio Manager brings clarity to priorities, strengthens delivery outcomes, and enables informed decision-making across the enterprise.
Partnering closely with product, engineering, and security teams, this role ensures foundational capabilities are delivered with a focus on performance, reliability, and risk management—unlocking innovation across critical areas such as Ecommerce, Omni-channel, Supply Chain, and Corporate Systems.

Portfolio Management- Foundations
Lead the development, approval, and management of integrated Foundations portfolio plans, ensuring alignment across Foundational Technology and Cyber Security & Digital Trust Portfolios. Ensure delivery against strategic objectives while adhering to enterprise governance, regulatory, and compliance standards.
Drive and mature annual, quarterly, and continuous planning processes across the Foundations portfolio, including intake management, dependency mapping, prioritization, sequencing, and capacity planning across infrastructure, platform, and security initiatives.
Serve as a strategic thought partner by delivering actionable, forward-looking insights on portfolio health, risk posture, and investment alignment—shifting from retrospective reporting to proactive decision enablement.
Define and lead portfolio reviews that provide clear visibility into performance, security posture, and delivery outcomes, enabling stakeholders to evaluate progress and make informed trade-off and prioritization decisions.
Ensure effective management and transparency of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints across the Foundations domain, with a strong emphasis on resiliency, cyber risk mitigation, and operational continuity. Lead development and execution of recovery and mitigation plans when needed.
Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies across engineering, product, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure alignment, shared accountability, and appropriate representation across portfolio priorities and decisions.
Establish and reinforce clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making frameworks within the Foundations portfolio, enabling efficient execution and accountability across cross-functional teams.
Apply structured change management practices to drive adoption of a product-centric operating model, embedding consistent planning, delivery, and security-by-design behaviors across Foundational Technology and Cyber Security & Digital Trust teams.
Translate evolving business and technology needs into scalable, secure, and reliable portfolio investment recommendations that strengthen enterprise platforms and protect organizational assets.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in portfolio management, continuously advancing team capabilities through coaching, mentorship, and best practice adoption. Maintain deep awareness of emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, regulatory requirements, and industry standards to inform planning and execution.
Talent Development
Build and mature portfolio management and planning practices across Foundations, driving consistency, quality, and operational efficiency across infrastructure, platform, and security teams.
Establish and reinforce clear performance expectations aligned to delivery outcomes, reliability, and risk management.
Coach and develop teammates to strengthen both technical domain knowledge and portfolio execution capabilities, ensuring continuous professional growth in emerging technologies and security practices.
Ongoing Learning and Development
Serve as a subject matter expert within Foundations, maintaining deep knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI, SOX).
Stay current on emerging technologies, threat landscapes, and industry best practices through continuous learning, certifications, conferences, and industry engagement.
Promote a culture of learning across Foundations teams, encouraging adoption of modern engineering, security-by-design, and resilience practices.
Continuous Improvement
Evaluate portfolio management, planning, and delivery processes across Foundations to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, and delivery outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, reliability, and security posture, while optimizing flow across infrastructure and security workstreams.
Partner with engineering and product leaders to implement process and tooling enhancements that improve planning accuracy, dependency management, and execution consistency.
Culture of Innovation
Champion innovation across the Foundational Domain by enabling teams to experiment with new technologies, platforms, and security capabilities that enhance performance, resilience, and protection.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and forward-thinking solutions that balance speed, stability, and security across the domain.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree or equivalent level preferred
Minimum 10 years’ experience in field overall
7+ years’ experience managing one or more large complex technology portfolios.
6+ years of experience planning 3 or more functional and/or technical portfolios within an enterprise with a combined investment of $20M+
5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies, including the use of backlogs to build capacity models.
5+ years of designing and implementing best practices in portfolio management including Intake management, demand planning, annual planning, quarterly planning, and continuous planning.
3+ years of technical program management experience
3+ years’ experience working within a product driven organization and structure.
Leader in portfolio governance, performance management, communication management and risk management
Defines and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at the business unit level within the enterprise.
Provides updates and interacts with executives at all levels of the organization.
PfMP, PMP, Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification
Experience and certification in SaFE methodology
Managerial Experience: Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames (Over 10 years to 15 years)

Targeted Pay Range: $95,200.00 - $158,800.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
