We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build, and scale the next generation of a developer ecosystem. This role focuses on building robust backend infrastructure, including APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures, to support high-performance, scalable platforms. You will collaborate across teams to architect solutions, solve complex distributed systems challenges, and deliver reliable software at scale. This position offers ownership over technical direction, opportunities to mentor engineers, and the ability to see your solutions deployed and used in real-world applications. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, values collaboration, and enjoys solving technical challenges with a focus on performance, reliability, and developer excellence.

Accountabilities

  • Design, implement, and scale backend services and APIs (GraphQL and REST) to support platform functionality.
  • Develop fault-tolerant and high-performance systems using caching, queuing, and asynchronous processing.
  • Build and maintain event-driven architectures with tools like Kafka and Redis MQ.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers to evolve cloud architecture and improve observability on AWS.
  • Lead projects end-to-end from ideation to deployment, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely delivery.
  • Proactively identify platform issues, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting best practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience building and scaling distributed backend systems in production environments.
  • Strong expertise in designing and implementing GraphQL and REST APIs, system design, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of caching strategies, queuing systems (Kafka, Redis MQ, or similar), and asynchronous architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Node.js) and openness to learning new technologies like Elixir.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from concept to delivery, set technical direction, and resolve challenges proactively.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to mentoring and elevating the technical capabilities of others.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation range: $165,000 - $235,000 USD (base salary + bonus).
  • Fully remote work with a monthly work-from-home stipend.
  • 401(k) match and comprehensive dental, medical, vision, and life insurance.
  • Flexible vacation and time-off policies.
  • Equity opportunities to grow with the company.
  • Professional development through learning programs and market exploration initiatives.
  • Support for family planning and specialized employee programs.
