• Accountabilities:
• Lead and provide hands-on guidance to engineering teams in Java development, distributed systems, microservices, and API design.
• Oversee the re-architecture and migration of legacy backend services to modern, cloud-native infrastructure.
• Ensure continuous availability, performance, and reliability of critical backend systems during modernization.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Conduct architectural reviews, code reviews, and design discussions to maintain high-quality delivery standards.
• Establish clear ownership and workflows between operational maintenance and modernization initiatives.
• Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor re-platforming progress, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor and grow team members, fostering a culture of resilience, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Requirements:
• 8+ years of backend/software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a management role.
• Proven track record leading large-scale re-platforming or modernization initiatives in production environments.
• Expert knowledge of Java, distributed systems, microservices, and API development.
• Strong experience with database schema design and distributed data management.
• Solid understanding of systems architecture and cloud-native service design.
• Ability to balance operational stability with long-term modernization objectives.
• Experience with personalization, search, or payments systems is a plus.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
