This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, CFO Advisory - Strategic Finance & Interim Finance Leadership based in the United States.
The Senior Manager will lead complex finance advisory engagements for private equity-backed portfolio companies navigating critical periods of growth, transition, and transformation.
This role sits at the intersection of strategic FP&A, accounting operations, finance leadership, and systems transformation.
You will frequently step into interim finance leadership roles following acquisitions or carve-outs, helping organizations stabilize operations and build scalable finance capabilities.
The position combines hands-on financial analysis with executive-level advisory, stakeholder management, and operational problem-solving.
You will design sophisticated forecasting and reporting frameworks that help executives, boards, and investors make informed decisions.

Accountabilities:- Serve as an interim finance leader for private equity-backed portfolio companies following acquisitions, carve-outs, or other significant business transitions.
- Assess existing finance and accounting functions to identify immediate resource, process, data, and operational gaps.
- Stabilize finance operations and establish practical processes that support business continuity and future scalability.
- Act as a primary finance liaison between portfolio company operating teams and private equity sponsors.
- Design and implement driver-based financial models, rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts, and annual operating plans.
- Develop institutional-grade executive reporting packages and KPI dashboards for board and private equity sponsor reviews.
- Establish unit-level economics, cost-to-serve models, margin analyses, and other financial frameworks that support operational decision-making.
- Lead initiatives to improve the quality, consistency, and usability of historical accounting data.
- Review and improve general ledger structures and accounting data to create a reliable foundation for FP&A and management reporting.
- Lead or support finance systems transformation projects, including legacy accounting system migrations to scalable ERP platforms such as NetSuite or Intacct.
- Support the implementation and integration of business intelligence tools and automated reporting solutions.
- Optimize and accelerate month-end close processes and strengthen accounting operations.
- Support transitions from cash to accrual accounting where required to improve financial visibility and reporting quality.
- Manage client engagements and lead cross-functional teams through complex finance transformation and advisory initiatives.
- Communicate financial findings, recommendations, and complex concepts directly to C-suite executives, boards, and private equity investors.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, reporting, and decision-making throughout client engagements.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A, financial advisory, or a closely related field.
- Direct experience working within or advising private equity-backed companies, preferably in post-acquisition, carve-out, or transformation environments.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger mechanics, trial balances, accounting operations, and the month-end close process.
- Ability to navigate accounting data and resolve operational finance bottlenecks effectively; a CPA is not required.
- Demonstrated experience participating in or leading finance systems implementations, data migrations, reporting automation, or related transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as NetSuite or Intacct and BI solutions such as Power BI or Tableau is beneficial.
- Advanced financial modeling skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to develop sophisticated forecasting and planning models.
- High proficiency in extracting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client engagements and lead cross-functional teams through complex and time-sensitive initiatives.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to C-suite leaders, boards, and private equity investors.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, and unstructured post-transaction environments.
- Strong adaptability and comfort taking ownership of critical finance decisions with limited information or established processes.
