This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist - Applied Research (USA Remote) in the United States.
This role is ideal for an experienced machine learning scientist who thrives at the intersection of cutting-edge research and deployable AI solutions. You will lead the development of novel ML and deep learning models with real-world impact, supporting products that reach millions of users globally. The position combines scientific rigor with hands-on software engineering, requiring expertise in large-scale model training, dataset design, and production deployment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, explore innovative approaches, and ensure models are optimized for performance, accuracy, and efficiency. This is a highly autonomous role where research insights translate directly into scalable, product-ready solutions. You will also stay at the forefront of AI research, implementing state-of-the-art methodologies and publishing impactful work.
· Research, design, and develop production-grade machine learning and deep learning models, optimized for large-scale deployment.
· Collaborate with engineering, product, and domain teams to identify ML-based solutions for complex challenges.
· Curate, construct, and analyze large datasets, ensuring data quality, reproducibility, and scalability.
· Implement efficient training pipelines for models spanning billions of parameters on multi-GPU and multi-node environments.
· Productionize models and integrate them into applications while maintaining compute efficiency and reliability.
· Conduct code and model maintenance, including hardening, testing, documentation, and demo preparation.
· Stay current with AI and ML research, experiment with new architectures and methods, and communicate insights internally and via publications.
Requirements
· Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
· Minimum 5 years of industry experience in machine/deep learning, AI, and software engineering.
· Strong foundation in mathematics, machine learning theory, and deep neural networks, including model architectures, loss functions, and training loops.
· Proficiency in Python-based ML frameworks (PyTorch, PyTorch Lightning, Hugging Face, Ray, scikit-learn, etc.) and experience with LLMs.
· Experience in designing and managing large-scale datasets and building efficient parallel pipelines.
· Familiarity with deployment, scaling, and optimization of models in production.
· Excellent communication, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
· Familiarity with software development best practices, dev-ops (Docker, AWS EC2/Batch/Lambda), and building prototypes or demos is a plus.
