This role leads a globally distributed engineering team driving innovation and quality in large-scale data orchestration systems. You will guide complex projects from concept to delivery, ensuring high standards in scalability, performance, and reliability. Acting as both a strategic leader and technical mentor, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to align engineering execution with business goals and customer needs. Accountabilities

  • Lead a distributed engineering team to deliver exceptional data orchestration solutions, bridging open-source innovations with commercial product development.
  • Provide technical mentorship and career development guidance to engineers, enhancing team expertise and cohesion.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of projects — from design and development through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, technical leads, and stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns with customer needs and strategic goals.
  • Implement effective logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies for optimal system performance and quick issue resolution.
  • Drive architectural improvements, manage technical debt, and ensure scalability and reliability of complex distributed systems.
  • Gather feedback from customer-facing teams to inform product improvements and address performance bottlenecks.
  • Manage resources, set priorities, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software engineering, including multiple years in leadership or people management roles.
  • Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, data engineering, cloud computing, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges while balancing immediate priorities with long-term architecture goals.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality software reliably and at scale.
  • Strong project planning skills, including proactive risk identification and mitigation.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and align technical decisions with business objectives.
  • Experience implementing operational excellence practices such as monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across time zones in a globally distributed team.
  • Bonus points for:
    • 5+ years managing software engineering teams.
    • Leading distributed or remote teams.
    • Contributions to open-source projects or visibility in the tech community.
    • Familiarity with Airflow, Python, or Golang.
