This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer, Autonomy ML Systems in United States.
This role sits at the intersection of machine learning, systems engineering, and autonomous vehicle technology, focused on evaluating and improving the performance of safety-critical autonomy subsystems. You will help define how ML models used in perception, prediction, and planning are measured, validated, and improved across simulation and real-world driving data. Working closely with autonomy, systems, and infrastructure teams, you will build the metrics and evaluation frameworks that underpin safe deployment of autonomous driving technology. The position blends deep analytical work with hands-on system evaluation at scale, using both offline and on-road datasets. You will play a key role in translating model behavior into measurable system performance and safety insights. This is a highly impactful engineering role contributing directly to the validation of production-ready autonomous systems.
Accountabilities:- Define, design, and validate advanced evaluation metrics to measure performance of autonomy ML subsystems, including perception, prediction, and planning models.
- Analyze model behavior across simulation, re-simulation, and real-world driving data to assess system performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Curate and maintain test datasets that accurately represent real-world operational conditions and deployment scenarios across multiple edge cases and environments.
- Evaluate machine learning models against defined performance benchmarks, identifying gaps and providing actionable insights to ML development teams.
- Conduct large-scale data analysis to assess system-level behavior and subsystem contributions to overall autonomy performance.
- Define and support performance requirements for autonomy subsystems, ensuring alignment with safety and system-level validation goals.
- Collaborate across systems, autonomy, and validation teams to support safety case development and end-to-end system evaluation strategies.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience working on robotics, autonomous systems, or safety-critical software systems in a systems engineering or ML-related role.
- Strong experience in Python and large-scale data analysis for machine learning evaluation and system performance assessment.
- Background in machine learning systems, with exposure to model evaluation, metrics design, or production ML pipelines.
- Understanding of autonomous systems domains such as perception, prediction, planning, or related robotics subsystems.
- Experience designing meaningful performance metrics that capture complex system behaviors and guide model improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large, complex datasets.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong academic background in Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, Machine Learning, or related fields.
- Familiarity with simulation, validation, or safety-critical system evaluation is highly valued.
- Experience with C++, automotive standards, or ML training pipelines is a plus.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $125,000 – $167,000 USD, with potential bonus and equity opportunities.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
- Health savings accounts and additional wellness benefits.
- Equity participation in a high-impact autonomous driving company.
- Flexible and inclusive work environment focused on innovation and collaboration.
- Exposure to cutting-edge autonomous vehicle and machine learning technologies.
- Paid time off and supportive company culture emphasizing work-life balance.
- Travel opportunities to test sites for hands-on system validation experience.
